iPhone13 alleged case leak just teased the final design

The September 14 Apple event, where the iPhone 13 is expected to be unveiled, is just a few hours away. And the last-minute leaks are coming in thick and fast.

Evan Blass posted on his evleaks Twitter account a series of images purportedly renderings of an iPhone 13 case from third-party case maker Spigen.

Spigen already posted real images of it's iPhone 13 case yesterday, seemingly showing how the iPhone 13 has a fairly similar design to the iPhone 12. However, Blass' leaked renderings of the case's front, back, and sides, thus revealing much of the iPhone 13's alleged design and showing off the full case handling.

On the back, we expect to see three cameras in a square module, as seen on the last two generations of iPhones. And the flat edges of the iPhone 12 should remain on the iPhone 13, as should the placement of the volume, mute, and power buttons; MagSafe charging will also be supported, which should come as no surprise.

But perhaps the biggest change seen in these renderings is the smaller display notch. And it's about time.

Since the iPhone X, Apple has used a relatively lumpy trapezoidal notch that eats a significant portion out of the phone's upper display. And by 2021 standards, the best Android phones have punch-hole selfie cameras, making the current iPhone notch look archaic.

Ideally, we would like to see Apple get rid of the notch altogether, but that is not likely to happen until the iPhone 14. Therefore, the notch must be made smaller for the time being.

As for other upgrades, the iPhone 13 is expected to feature a larger battery, a rumored new A15 Bionic processor, and an improved 5G modem. Also expected are astrophotography capabilities, a portrait mode for videography, and an always-on display. The most notable upgrades, however, appear to be coming to the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. These include a 120Hz display, an enhanced ultra-wide camera, and improved telephoto capabilities.

Either way, we'll know for sure by the end of the day. Stay tuned to our live blog of the Apple event for the latest news.
