Watching Y: The Last Man online today, I see a reality that many joke about but no one has actually experienced. A society with (almost) no men. Who is the one man left? His name is Yorick Brown.

Ah, belatedly, the first three episodes have been released. Not just the first episode.

We don't know why Yorick is the only mammal with a Y chromosome. Yorick has a pet monkey named Ampersand, and the two are trying to survive in an inverted world.

Yorick's mother, Jennifer Brown, also experiences this new world from a unique angle. She is a new president, for she was a senator when the current president passed away as part of the mysterious deaths of almost all men.

Y: The Last Man seems to be in development hell forever. An adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra's graphic novel was announced on October 14, 2015. And in 2019, co-showrunners Michael Green and Aida Mashaka Croal left the project due to creative differences after years of news that FX execs liked the script they were sent.

The first three episodes of Y: The Last Man are available on Hulu.

They premiered on Monday, September 13 at 12am ET. The remaining episodes will be available every Monday.

Hulu is only available in the U.S.

But Hulu is not available everywhere. So, FX Canada is streaming the season premiere at 10 p.m. ET and PT for our neighbors in the Northland.

In the UK, you'll have to wait a bit; the first three episodes of Y: The Last Man will air on Disney Plus' Star on September 22.

The man was there, until he wasn't. In this trailer, nearly every man in the world falls, including the President of the United States at the time. And we meet the new president (Diane Lane), Jennifer Brown.

"Y: The Last Man" stars Diane Lane as President Jennifer Brown, who was promoted from U.S. Senator to President after the President died in a mysterious operation to eradicate men.

Jennifer Brown is the mother of Yorick Brown, played by Ben Schnetzer, who appears to be the last living male human being.

The rest of the cast includes familiar names such as Olivia Thirlby as Yorick's sister, the paramedic Hero Brown. There is also Amber Tamblyn, who plays Kimberly Campbell Cunningham, the daughter of the late U.S. president, who is succeeded by Jennifer Brown.

Ashley Romans plays Yorick's bodyguard, Agent 355, Juliana Canfield plays Yorick's girlfriend, Beth Deville, and Elliot Fletcher plays trans man Sam Jordan.
