Narcos: Mexico's Season 3 draws to a close. The drug cartel drama concludes its final season on Netflix and introduces the next generation of kingpins. As the trailer teases, the new episodes will feature "the war that changed Mexico and drug trafficking forever."

The original "Narcos" series focused on Pablo Escobar and the Colombian crime syndicate; it was completed after three seasons and led to "Narcos: Mexico," about the Guadalajara cartel and its leader, Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo (Diego Luna ), depicting the rise of the The story also featured the DEA's cartel pursuit, beginning with Agent Kiki Camarena (Michael Pena), who later became Agent Walt Breslin (Scoot McNairy).

Narcos: Mexico's Season 3 takes place in the 1990s after Gallardo's arrest. Newly independent gangs struggle to survive political change and escalating violence. And a new generation of bosses takes over the mantle from their predecessors.

Whether "Narcos" will continue elsewhere remains to be seen. Producers have previously said they intend to follow the drug trade across various countries.

Netflix will release Narcos: Mexico Season 3 on Friday, November 5.

The season will consist of 10 episodes. Former Narcos Wagner Moura joins a list of episode directors that includes Alejandra Marquez Abella, Luis Ortega, and Amat Escalante.

The trailer for Narcos: Mexico season 3 begins with a twist: the show's first female narrator (more on her later). A series of ominous images flash before our eyes: gunfire, DEA raids, and home invasions. She notes that war has come to her country and it "spreads like fire."

"But no matter how fast it burns out," she says, "the music keeps playing.

The cast of "Narcos: Mexico" Season 3 will feature a large number of new faces: nine new regulars. Lead actor Diego Luna is stepping down, and Scoot McNairy, who played DEA agent Walt Breslin, will return.

Also joining the cast in Season 3 is Luisa Rubino as Andrea Nunez, an idealistic and ambitious journalist who becomes the show's first female narrator (previous narrators were McNairy, Pedro Pascal, and Boyd Holbrook). Her mission to uncover corruption leads her to a bigger case than expected.

Luis Gerardo Mendez plays Victor Tapia, a Juarez cop caught up in a brutal serial murder mystery. Alberto Guerra is Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, an independent drug trafficker who eventually becomes the leader of the Sinaloa cartel.

Narcos: The Mexican season 3 cast includes Alejandro Firth as Ramon Salgado, Lorenzo Ferro as Alex Hodoyan, Jose Zuniga as General Rebollo, Diego Calva as Arturo Beltran Leyva, Dani Kristen Lee Gutosky, and Bo Milchoff as Steve Sheridan.
