New Google Pixel 6 Teaser shows phone in Hand — and possible May 19 Launch

To spoil the iPhone 13 buzz and Apple's event, more Google Pixel 6 details were released today from Google.

A new video and Instagram post from Made By Google's YouTube channel revealed a more detailed and realistic look at the phone. And with suggestions that the phone will launch in the middle of next month, these may be the last official teasers we get before the launch date.

The video opens with what appears to be the Pixel 6 Pro. The distinctive gold color and the presence of metal side rails instead of the matte black of the base model indicate that this is a Pro model. It is not shown in the clip, but the camera bar should have three cameras, the most ever on the back of a Pixel phone, according to leaked information.

Most of the rest of the video focuses on the software aspects of the Pixel 6. This includes some of the upcoming Android 12, such as Material You design changes to buttons and sliders, and custom colors based on the selected wallpaper.

We also get a brief glimpse of the Tensor chip that powers this phone. This new Google-designed silicon is expected to bring a new level of AI-enhancing capabilities to the Pixel 6, driving the personalization shown off in this video.

Meanwhile on Instagram, Google revealed a series of references to Drake's "Certified Lover Boy" album art, a Pixel different teasers in the form of 6 home screens. These all use slightly different colors and widget placement, showing how different the home screens can look while still maintaining an attractive appearance.

Even more interesting is the hint of a release date. The dates shown in these images all fall on Tuesday the 19th, which coincidentally is sometime next month in October, the date when the Pixel 6 is expected to make its official debut.

Google has been unusually forthcoming with details about the Pixel 6, but there are a few things that they have not yet told us but that leaked sources claim to know. For example, it appears that there will be a fingerprint scanner under the display, another first for the Pixel.

However, we don't know about the Pixel 6's price, so hopefully we'll get more details soon.
