The iPhone 13 is likely to make its first official appearance at Apple's big product launch event on September 14. But before the public gets a glimpse of the company's new flagship model, new renderings appear to be giving an incredibly early look at the 2022 iPhone 14.

Front Page Tech's lead leaker, Jon Prosser, has reportedly been briefed by Apple internal staff or staff within the company's supply chain on what the iPhone 14 Pro Max will actually look like. Prosser did not name his source, but he has an above-average track record at getting leaks right.

In a video posted on Front Page Tech's YouTube channel, Prosser details exactly what we can expect from the iPhone 14 design.

The most striking thing about the iPhone 14's design is its resemblance to the iPhone 4. Like the iPhone 4, the future phone will offer two flat pieces of glass sandwiched between metal rails. According to Prosser, these rails are made of titanium.

The iPhone 14 is also said to get rid of two lingering iPhone annoyances, the notch and camera bump. According to Prosser, the iPhone 14 is said to push all Face ID sensors below the display.

The rumored design would also eliminate the rear camera bump, and the camera module would sit flush with the rest of the back. There also appears to be no additional cutouts separating the camera areas. Everything is on the same plane.

To eliminate camera bumps, the iPhone 14 may use a periscope camera lens that stacks the lenses horizontally rather than vertically.

The glass is said to have a semi-gloss finish and the Apple logo will be under the glass.

As for colors, Prosser was unable to obtain final confirmation on the shades that will be featured on Apple's 2022 phone. However, it is safe to expect black, silver/white, and gold. Prosser claimed he saw a gold variation of the phone and his team mocked up a turquoise model for fun.

The iPhone 14 is unlikely to be the portless iPhone that is sometimes rumored. Instead, it will have an incessant Lightning port, a technological remnant that seems to refuse to evolve to USB-C.

According to this rumor, the front of the display will no longer have a notch, as mentioned above, and the sensor will be pushed under it. However, there will be one perforated camera cutout for selfies. Given the poor quality of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3's under-display camera, this practical design choice makes sense.

The Front Page Tech website also allows users to view the iPhone 14 in augmented reality via Safari on an iPhone or iPad.

Overall, it is difficult to say whether Front Page Tech's iPhone 14 leak is credible. For obvious reasons, Prosser could not reveal his sources, as they would likely be subject to retaliation and potential lawsuits from Apple. Prosser himself has a reasonable track record when it comes to Apple information; according to AppleTrack's leaderboard, Prosser ranks 12th among Apple leakers, with an accuracy rate of 76.6%.

Of course, before we see the iPhone 14 we will likely have the launch of the iPhone 13 next week. The notch is back on that phone, although it should be smaller, and the Pro model is expected to feature a variable refresh rate display.
