Christmas is coming for "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist" fans, as Roku has officially ordered a holiday movie based on the NBC musical series.

Titled "Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas," the movie will be based on the NBC musical series. It will also be available on Roku in Canada and the UK.

Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist was cancelled by NBC in June after two seasons. Producer Lionsgate negotiated a third season with Peacock, but the deal never materialized. Instead, Roku stepped in to save the show; TVLine reports that the holiday movie is the first step, and hopefully, Roku may order more episodes.

The musical drama centers on Zoe Clark (Jane Levy), a software developer who has developed the ability to hear the inner thoughts of others as popular songs. It features the work of artists such as The Beatles, Cyndi Lauper, Billy Joel, Rizzo, and Taylor Swift.

Production on "Zoe's Special Christmas" will begin next week in Vancouver, with Jane Levy (Zoe), Skylar Astin (Max), Alex Newell (Mo), Mary Steenbergen (Maggie), Peter Gallagher (Mitch) The cast will reunite. Series creator Austin Winsberg wrote the screenplay, and series pilot director Richard Shepard will direct the film.

Along with the film, Roku Channel has acquired the rights to all 25 episodes of Zoe's Unusual Playlist. The show will be available on the platform this fall.

The Roku Channel is becoming a greater force in streaming original productions. Earlier this year, it acquired Quibi's library and began programming as Roku Originals. Since then, it has ordered new seasons of Reno 911!!!, Kevin Hart's Die Hart, and Most Dangerous Game.
