Apple Watch7 may be very hard to buy at launch — here's why

If you want the Apple Watch 7 this fall, you'd better buy quickly when Apple's new smartwatch goes on sale, because to resolve production issues with the Apple Watch 7, Apple's leading watchers say the new wearable will initially be available in limited limited quantities of the new wearable will initially be available.

This information comes from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. He previously reported on production problems Apple has encountered with the new watch, and Gurman says the Apple Watch 7 will debut alongside the iPhone at Apple's September 14 product event, rather than being delayed to another event later this fall.

However, by accelerating the launch, Apple will have a smaller supply of the watch on hand than it has had recently. This means that many would-be Apple Watch 7 owners will be left empty-handed while Apple tries to increase supply. It is also possible that other Apple Watch 7 models will ship at a later date.

Initial reports of Apple Watch 7 production delays suggested that the problem was the smartwatch's new look. Allegedly, the Apple Watch 7 will increase in size from 44mm and 40mm to 45mm and 41mm and will feature a new flat edge design. Reportedly, factories producing the new watches are struggling to produce the Apple Watch 7 in large enough quantities.

The new design will likely be the highlight of the Apple Watch 7. Many of the health features that Apple hopes to add to its lineup of wearables, such as blood pressure monitoring, are not expected until future Apple Watch releases beginning in 2022. In his report, Garman confirms that for the Apple Watch, "this year is not about health feature upgrades." [We'll have to wait until September 14 for more details on the Apple Watch 7 release to become clearer. Expect Apple to unveil the watch next week, as well as details about how easy it will be to find a model for yourself.
