The iPhone 13's alleged satellite connectivity surprised us all with the latest and strangest thing we've heard about the next Apple phone. Unfortunately, according to the latest information, this system does not appear to be as universal as we had hoped.

According to Mark Garman in his latest Power On Bloomberg newsletter, the iPhone 13 satellite communication system has some serious limitations. It is only available in "some markets" and "areas with no cellular coverage." It also requires being outdoors and may have to wait up to a minute for a connection.

Garman adds that the Messages app will be able to tell which messages were sent using satellite signals; instead of the blue message balloons on iPhones and green balloons on other phones, these will appear in gray.

According to Garman's newsletter, Apple still has long-term plans for its own satellite network as well. However, existing rumors say that Apple will partner with Globalstar for this alleged satellite system.

For now, Apple's satellite communication system is likely to be for emergency messaging services. However, it will not be a universal option for emergency calls, as it is only available in certain markets. Indeed, Apple does not seem to want the iPhone to be a challenger to the satellite phone market.

Based on previous iPhone release dates, the iPhone 13 is likely to be released in the next few weeks. Aside from this satellite communication rumor, we may also see the new phone get a 120Hz display (on some models), a reworked camera, a larger battery and a smaller front camera notch. iPhone 13 is expected to be released in the next few weeks, along with other products like the Apple Watch 7 along with other products like the Apple Watch 7, will hopefully be unveiled at the next major Apple event, which is likely to take place this month.
