Usually, this is the time of year when various leaks regarding the second OnePlus flagship model of the year are being circulated. However, with reports that the OnePlus 9T has been canceled, the company now seems to be focusing on the OnePlus 10, which is due between March and June of next year.

Indeed, reading between the lines of what leaker Yogesh Brar tweeted, it seems that the OnePlus 10 could be what is usually seen as the T model. He wrote: "OnePlus is working on a series 10 phone that is being marketed as a sleek series 9 model."

That's not so bad; the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro were, after all, excellent phones at competitive prices. But refined versions of the handsets are usually seen at the end of the year, not in new spring or summer models.

Elsewhere, Brar claims to be working on a "group of models in the Nord series" and "some new accessories" that will be revealed "at the next presentation." Notably, there is no mention here of the OnePlus 9T, and the sheer volume of products cited may be some way to explain this.

The "T" model made sense in the days when OnePlus only released two handsets a year, but OnePlus is probably feeling the effects of spreading itself thin. There are multiple OnePlus Nord variants as well as flagship vanilla and Pro versions. Given that the lower-priced Nord devices are reportedly selling remarkably well in the U.S., it would be natural for the company to prioritize the lower-priced versions on the market over another flagship in Q4, when the iPhone 13 hype is suffering from a lack of oxygen.

And then there are the accessories. This year, the OnePlus Watch and OnePlus Buds Pro were launched alongside the OnePlus TV. With Brar saying that more accessories will be launched later this year, it is not surprising that the company wants to give its flagship models some breathing space.

Of course, OnePlus itself hinted in a recent naughty tweet that there might be a 9T:

Maybe so... But equally unlikely, according to Android Central, OnePlus is planning a OnePlus 9 RT based on the OnePlus 9R.

The company could have been referring to that in its "OnePlus 9 in tea" tweet. Or it could be that the company knows how to track social media engagement numbers and is not afraid to troll a bit to get results. Not that the company hasn't used such tricks before, as its teaser for the world's worst folding phone turned out to be just a 50% off campaign.
