A small but important announcement was made by WhatsApp at the recent Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, revealing that WhatsApp will soon allow users to jump chat history, voice memos, and photos between iPhone and Android devices.

Currently limited to Samsung devices running Android 10 or later, the day has finally arrived. It's a fairly complicated process, but for those, like me, who are strangely sentimental about years of chats and GIF exchanges, it should be appealing as a one-time process. In fact, if WhatsApp can migrate from Android to iPhone, I would seriously consider an iOS device in the future.

WhatsApp migrates almost everything, with only the call history and display name highlighted as missing. Hardly necessary.

Before starting work, both the Samsung device (Android 10 or later) and the iPhone from which you are migrating must be accessed. When everything is ready, start the procedure.

1. the first step is to turn on your new Samsung device and connect it to your iPhone with the USB-C to Lightning cable.

2. Open the Samsung SmartSwitch app and select "Smart Switch" as the transfer mode.

4. Once that is done, tap "Start" on the iPhone and wait for confirmation that the step is complete.

5. Log in using the same phone number as on the iPhone.

According to WhatsApp, WhatsApp accounts are not deleted from your iPhone until you reset them yourself.
