Is Shang-Chi coming to Disney Plus earlier than expected?

I would love to see Princess Shang at Disney Plus, but I have to wait. Fortunately, the gap may not be as long as we think. This is because Shanghi-Mei will not be treated like the Black Widow. So Soap will not be available on Disney Plus Premiere Access.

As you know, Marvel movies are released only in theaters. And after months of movie theater attendance, I'm finally ready for a breather. Why so persistent? Because I just returned from vacation, where I had quite a bit of contact with people who tested positive for covid19.

I was tested several times, and while I was happy that each test came back negative, the anxiety I experienced while waiting for the results made me think that I should do my best, unless the circumstances were such that I could not get it otherwise. I will probably go back to the cinema later, but I am in no hurry.

And as someone who watched movies at home during the pandemic, I don't consider movie theaters a must anymore. (Though I was happy to learn that my favorite local theater told me that New York City requires proof of vaccination for indoor events.)

Perhaps the biggest reason I think I can wait for "Shang-Chi" is that it has a much shorter wait to come to Disney Plus than a regular movie release. Disney has announced that "Shang-Chi" will have a 45-day exclusive theatrical run, as opposed to the usual 90 days.

But before we count how many days are 45 days after "Shang-Chi's" September 3 release (Monday, October 18, 2021), let's note that this window may not end with the Disney Plus release.

There is still the possibility that Disney Plus will have to wait until after the Premium Video on Demand/iPPV release, or some other possibility. We don't know yet.

Disney CEO Bob Chapek has cited the "practicality of last-minute changes" as the reason for no Disney Plus Premier Access release. (Whether this is related to Scarlett Johansson's lawsuit against the Walt Disney Company regarding the release of Black Widow is unknown.)

Chapek called this "an interesting experiment for us. So the film may or may not go straight to Disney Plus. We'll have to wait and see. But I have a feeling that 45 days is not that long of a wait, so I will wait it out.
