Notchless "New iPhone" discovered in Ted Lasso episode

Will Apple really leak the iPhone 13 on Ted Lasso (the most talked about show)? Yes, we know Apple wants us to watch the Apple TV Plus show, but this latest news has us scratching our heads and casting doubt on the situation.

Let's get our facts straight: at about 14 minutes into episode 6 of Ted Lasso season 2 (The Signal), a character is checking her cell phone for messages; since it's an Apple TV Plus show, it's only natural that she has her iPhone (which is a Product placement is a hallmark of Apple programming). But it doesn't look like the latest iPhone. Rather, it looks like something Apple might unveil at its September event.

What is so different about this iPhone? It's in the lower left corner.

Now, if you can't tell from the above photo, we have prepared a close-up of the freeze frame so you can see for yourself. The black bar at the top of recent iPhones (from iPhone X), the "notch" where the front-facing camera and sensor are located, appears to be missing.

And if there is no iPhone near you, here is the iPhone 12. So I want you to see for yourself. What do you see?

This probably isn't really an iPhone 13 leak, because Apple is virtually the most secretive company on the planet.

Furthermore, we don't expect a notch-free iPhone 13; there are no rumors that the notch will be completely eliminated in the iPhone 13, only slimmed down by about 25%. Therefore, Tom's Guide believes that this is most likely someone in the post-production department going a little overboard. Perhaps Apple didn't want the notch to be so prominent? Also, as sharp-eyed Twitter user Paul Bailey has noticed, they may have done this more than once.

And it would not be surprising if Ted Lasso is playing with visual tricks. It is not hard to notice the use of CGI in the scenes that take place at the fictional AFC Richmond soccer stadium; The Mary Sue has the details.
