A new rumor for Samsung's Galaxy S22 claims that it will borrow one of the Galaxy S21 Ultra's most powerful features and make major improvements to its telephoto camera.

According to sources speaking to Dutch site GalaxyClub (via SlashGear), for the Galaxy S22, Samsung claims that it intends to replace the Galaxy S21's current telephoto camera with a new 10MP camera with 3x optical zoom. This would be a substantial upgrade for the lower-priced Galaxy S22 series to stand out against the iPhone 13 and Google Pixel 6.

The Galaxy S21 has a 64MP telephoto camera with 3x hybrid magnification, but only 1.1x optical zoom. Therefore, the Galaxy S22 with 3x optical zoom may be able to capture clearer zoom images than its predecessor, even with fewer megapixels. In fact, the basic model of the Galaxy S22 would be comparable to the Galaxy S21 Ultra's low-power telephoto camera, which has a 3x optical zoom 10MP camera and a 10x optical zoom 10MP camera.
