Techdows reported that Google has begun testing a feature in its Chrome web browser that allows users to save groups of tabs and open them at a later date.

Chrome's tab groups are one way to organize a set of tabs in Google's web browser, preventing users from seeing what appears to be a large number of tabs in the browser's navigation bar. However, tab groups disappear once closed. The new save feature solves that by allowing users to close a bunch of tabs and still open them later, rather than having to set up a new tab group.

Such a feature would be good for people who routinely open the same set of tabs, such as Gmail, Calendar, and other web-based tools and services. Having saved groups promises to make life easier and would be a boon for those who are pressed for time or simply find it tedious to assemble tab groups. After all, time is money.

Currently, the saved tab group feature is only available in the desktop version of Chrome Canary version 95.

If you would like to try out the tab group save feature, download Canary; once you launch Canary 95 (if you already have it, you can check your version under "Settings" -> "About Chrome"), turn on the "Experimental" tab to enable the tab group save feature. You will need to turn on the "Experiments" tab to enable the tab group save feature.

To do this, go to chrome://flags in Chrome Canary and find the "tab-groups-save" option in the search bar. Next to the option, you will see a drop-down menu to enable or disable the feature. Then, when prompted by Canary, click "Relaunch" to save the flag changes and restart your browser. The Tab Groups Save option should then be enabled.

To use the Tab Groups Save feature, you must create a group of tabs. Right-click on a tab and click "Add to New Tab Group." You will then be prompted to choose a name and color for the tab group. To save, simply turn on the Save Group option in the Tab menu. 13]

Once the saved tab group is closed, access the three dots menu in the upper right corner of Chrome Canary and recall it by hovering over the History option in the menu You can also call it up by hovering over the "History" option in the menu. You will then see the "Recently Closed Tabs" option.

From there, the tab options will appear and the name of the saved tab group will be displayed. To reload a saved tab, click on it. To save time, you can recall closed tab groups by pressing Ctrl + Shift + T in Chrome Canary.

We do not know when the option to save tab groups will be available in the full release of Chrome. However, given that tab groups are now in the main browser, it is likely that Chrome will have the new save feature sooner rather than later.
