Claimed photos of iPhone13Pro show a huge camera

Apple's iPhone 13 launch is approaching, and whether or not the company holds multiple events, the next generation iPhone is expected to be unveiled next month.

There have been numerous rumors of upgrades to the iPhone 13 Pro, many of which revolve around the camera. Now, a purported leaked photo of the iPhone 13 Pro's outer shell is giving us an idea of how these upgrades will be realized. In short, if these photos are legitimate, the camera module will be larger.

This information comes from a photo shared by Majin Bu on Twitter; Bu is a relatively new leaker, but has been proven correct in previous iPhone 12 silicone case leaks.

At first glance, this looks almost identical to the current iPhone 12 Pro, right down to the lens placement. However, by adding some lines, even at unhelpful angles, we can see that the alleged iPhone 13 Pro has a larger camera module and the edge of the bump is aligned with the center of the Apple logo.

Notably, this backs up past leaks we have seen, legitimate or not. Last month, a purported iPhone 13 Pro case attached to an iPhone 12 Pro proved to be slightly loose around the camera module, and a comparison of dummy units also revealed what appears to be a small but significant increase in the size of the camera module.

Needless to say, Apple will not increase the size of the module unless absolutely necessary. This confirms rumors that the camera internals of the next iPhone will be improved; the Pro model is said to be the first to feature a new six-element ultra-wide lens with autofocus. All models are also said to have larger sensors.

These hardware improvements will obviously complement some new software tricks. Portrait video recording, the ability to save videos in ProRes format, and filters to correct color reproduction are rumored.

Regarding the unusual color highlighted in Bu's first tweet, Apple Insider speculates that this is not an entirely new dark rose gold color, but a graphite or pre-production black iPhone 13 Pro shot under warm lighting. If indeed it is rose gold, it's a dark new interpretation of what the shade should look like, compared to Apple's past products bearing that brand.
