iOS 15 gives Iphone owners more control over night mode

The addition of a night mode to Apple's iPhone is a welcome addition, allowing users to take solid photos in the dark and making Apple's device a mainstay on the best camera phone list. However, you can't always use night mode.

Night mode is activated automatically, so if you want to take pictures using only ambient light, you have to manually turn the feature off. The real hassle, however, is that you are forced to change that every time you launch the camera app, although that will change in the iOS 15 software update.

9to5Mac found a change in the beta version of iOS 15 that not only disables night mode, but also gives users the option to keep the feature off until they decide they need some help with low-light photography. Previously, if a user turned off night mode, the feature would toggle back on every time the camera app was opened.

In iOS 15, users now have more fine-grained control. Access the Settings app and select Camera. From there, tap Save Settings, then tap Night Mode. Here you can toggle the ability to keep night mode off.

Selecting this toggle will permanently disable night mode until you turn it back on again using the same procedure. Setting the function in this way seems like a more logical way to operate the camera. This gives the user more control when taking the perfect shot.

To turn off night mode, tap the quarter moon icon from within the camera app. You will see a slider set to automatic, slide it to the left to turn the feature off.

Night mode is useful in low ambient light situations, whether outdoors or indoors. However, the automatic grain reduction and sharpening in night mode are not always corrected instantly, which can annoy experienced photographers who want to fine-tune the settings themselves.

iOS 15 is currently available as a public beta, and if you have downloaded it to your phone, you can try out these new features right now. Otherwise, the full release of iOS 15 will arrive in the fall, probably around the same time Apple holds its iPhone 13 launch event.
