The Fitbit Charge5 may have just leaked out with a lot of images and the first color display

If a series of tweeted images are to be believed, we may be getting our first look at the Fitbit Charge 5. Prominent leaker Evan Blass posted several pictures of the new wearable, titled simply "Fitbit Charge 5," showing what may be Fitbit's next fitness tracker.

The images reveal a sleeker design than the Fitbit Charge 4, more like the new Fitbit Luxe, as well as a color display, a first for the Charge line.

Blass' image resembles one posted by 9to5google in July, which stated that it may be the Fitbit Charge 5, codenamed "Morgan."

The shape of the purported Fitbit Charge 5 is much more rounded than the Fitbit Charge 4, especially along the sides and the top and bottom of each bezel. The photos also show elongated areas on both sides, which indicates that the Charge 5 may employ some of the features found in the Fitbit Sense, such as an ECG sensor. [The current Charge 4 has tactile buttons on the sides for selecting on-screen menu options. [A color display on the Charge 5 would make sense since most of Fitbit's other wearables use this technology, with only the Charge 4, Inspire 2, and Kid-tracker Ace still having black and white screens. Charge is probably the most popular of Fitbit's devices.

Some of the images posted by Blass show the device's display as October 23, which could indicate a possible release date; the Fitbit Charge 4 was released in the spring of 2020, but documents filed with the FCC indicate that the new Fitbit could indicate that it will be released in October.

Blass did not post a photo of the back of the supposed Fitbit Charge 5, so it is difficult to determine what sensors are mounted underneath. However, it is expected to have at least a heart rate monitor and GPS.

However, it seems likely that the Charge 5 will be available in at least three colors: black, slate gray, and white, which would be a bit lighter overall than the Charge 4's colors (black, rosewood, and storm blue).Blass said that Fitbit not posted any photos of the Special Edition that it may have with the Charge 4.

If we believe the October 23 release date, we won't have to wait much longer to see if these images are real. However, it makes more than enough sense that Fitbit's flagship fitness tracker will have a color display; Blass has a pretty good track record for reporting accurate leaks, but we'll have to wait a bit longer to see if this is true.
