Lionel Messi at PSG: How to watch Messi's first match

Shockingly, PSG's Lionel Messi has become a reality.

The world's greatest soccer player - depending on where you stand in the Messi vs. Ronaldo debate - has finally left Barcelona, Spain, where he has been since the age of 13. But the soccer/football world will continue to follow his every move with his new team, Paris Saint-Germain of French Ligue 1.

Right now, however, Messi is probably not ready to actually play for France. Instead, the Argentine superstar seems to be delaying preseason to get in shape. As such, he will likely miss this weekend's Ligue 1 match between PSG and Strasbourg.

More likely, he will be seen in the stands or on the sidelines supporting his new team. In fact, if we had to guess, we would say that Messi will not be on the pitch until September.

PSG has two games between this weekend and the Clermont game on September 12. We will keep an eye out for news on possible first-team and in-game time before that, but we already know where we can watch PSG games so we can figure out if we can (or cannot) watch them in their current set-up.

There are also details on what is needed to watch the UEFA Champions League, in which PSG will also be competing. With the addition of Messi, PSG will boast a ridiculously talented front three of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, and Messi.

All of PSG's live streams are available on various channels around the world, but what if you are not in your home country and want to watch on your usual service?

The answer is to use a VPN (Virtual Private Network); with a VPN, you can watch the broadcast from your home wherever you are. In other words, even if you are abroad, with the best VPN service, you can watch the game live as if you were in the lounge.

Our favorite is ExpressVPN, thanks to its combination of great speed, great customer service, and excellent device support. They also offer a no-questions-asked 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can check them out without signing a long-term contract.

Using VPN is incredibly easy.

1. install the VPN of your choice. As we have mentioned, ExpressVPN is our favorite.

2. select the location you want to connect to with the VPN app. For example, if you are in the UK and want to see US services, select US from the list.

3. Sit back and enjoy the action; access NBC, Peacock, or another service to watch the game.

U.S. soccer fans can watch PSG's Lionel Messi on beIN Sports. They can also watch via the beIN Sports Connect app available on Android, iOS, and Roku.

CBS and CBS Sports Network or Paramount Plus are also recommended when watching PSG matches in the UEFA Champions League.

If you cut cable and don't have cable, you have plenty of options: the Sling Blue package costs only $35 per month and offers more than 30 channels. However, to access beIN Sports, you must add $11 per month to the Sports Extra package. Sling is currently offering a 30-day trial at the bargain price of $10, $25 off the regular price.

Fubo.TV is another option. Fubo includes the CBS Sports Network, which Sling does not.

If you already use these services but are not currently in the US, you can use a VPN such as ExpressVPN to watch Lionel Messi of PSG.

Canadians can watch Lionel Messi @ PSG with beIN Sports or beIN Connect with a valid cable certificate. Canadian cord-cutters can watch the matches through Fubo.TV and there is a 7-day free trial, so there is no need to pay upfront.

The Champions League will be broadcast exclusively on DAZN (Da Zone) in Canada.

If Canadians abroad want to watch the matches, they can use a VPN such as ExpressVPN to trick their streaming device into thinking they are back in the great white north.

In the UK, BT Sport has all the streams to follow Lionel Messi against PSG in Ligue 1. At least that seems to be the case at the moment.

BT Sport also has the rights to all UEFA Champions League matches.

Prices vary widely depending on whether you already have a BT TV and BT broadband subscription. If you have both, you can add a sports package for £15 per month plus a £20 initial fee, or opt for the Big Sports package for £40 per month, which also includes all Sky Sports channels.

Another option for those who do not subscribe to BT is the BT Sport Monthly Pass (£25), which allows you to watch for a set amount of time using an app and does not require a long-term subscription.

All of these are great. But even if you're not in the UK, you can still follow PSG's Lionel Messi with the best VPN services, such as ExpressVPN.

Australians can watch PSG's Lionel Messi on Kayo Sport, which can be accessed through a dedicated app on mobile and tablet, as well as through Chromecast and Apple TV. There is also a premium subscription available for A$35 per month.

A 14-day free trial is also available for those who wish to try the service before signing up for a subscription.

The Champions League is broadcast on Optus sports in Australia.

It is not currently broadcast in Australia; with a VPN, you can watch all the matches on your Optus account as if you were at home.
