This new air purifier does not need to replace its filter

Since the pandemic, we have become more aware than ever of indoor pollutants and airborne viruses. This, plus recent wildfire concerns, has made air purifiers a very popular investment on a global scale. In fact, brands are developing innovative and enhanced features to improve the performance of their air purifiers, such as OneLife, whose latest air purifier, the OneLife X, uses plasma filter technology to eliminate the need for filter replacement. On top of that, the OneLife X boasts eco-friendly features that are both environmentally friendly and wallet-friendly.

OneLife invests in air purification technology to promote health while being sustainable. This is the company's one-of-a-kind product and a sign of confidence. But what makes OneLife X so special?

First, there is the plasma filter technology. This essentially creates a plasma field that generates ions that charge airborne particles and catch them within the cleaner. This technology allows OneLife to operate at much lower fan speeds than conventional HEPA-filtered air purifiers, which it claims makes it a quieter operator. However, it is rated at 25-45 dB(A), which is about the same as other products we have tested.

The Plasma filter also claims to remove particles 0.3 micrometers or smaller. In fact, OneLife states that it can capture particles as small as 0.01 micrometers. This is smaller than any other air purifier on the market, including the latest Dyson model. Another major advantage of this new filter design is that it does not need to be replaced. They simply need to be washed by hand or in the dishwasher on a regular basis. This reduces the amount of waste generated when replacing the HEPA filter.

"OneLife's vision is simple: to help people around the world breathe better.

"Using a broadband plasma field and advanced laser sensors, OneLife X captures and removes 99.99% of airborne particulates, trapping particles as small as 0.01 pm (10 times smaller than a coronavirus).

OneLife X features a minimalistic and sophisticated design. It is essentially a white cube that tilts within a wooden frame. The fan can be directed to any location. It covers a room up to 270 square feet. This is an average range, but very acceptable given the OneLife X's compact size. The device measures roughly 16 x 8 x 8 inches, so it is very small and would fit on a bedside table. There are three modes: boost, night, and automatic. The fan can run at full speed during the day and quietly at night.

There is also a sustainability aspect to this air purifier. Using as little as 4 to 8 watts, OneLife calculates that the annual running cost is only about $6. And because it is made from recycled plastic and bamboo, it is environmentally friendly and natural looking.

As for connectivity, OneLife X can work with smartphones via an app and can also connect with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri. The app allows users to monitor indoor and outdoor air quality, access all three modes, and even control the air purifier remotely.

Ultimately, the OneLife X's design is innovative and promising. It will be interesting to see if the plasma filter technology can live up to its claims. It is also great to see sustainability mentioned as a key feature of the product.

The OneLife X is currently available for pre-order from OneLife and Indiegogo for $799.
