Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 pop in video before unpacked event

If the leaked footage of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is true, someone on Samsung Malaysia's social media team is in trouble.

According to Reddit user paxinfernum, as reported by SamMobile, Samsung Malaysia, prior to the official launch of the foldable at the Galaxy Unpacked event on August 11, early Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 video footage was accidentally leaked.

At the time of publication, the videos can still be seen on Reddit. The video was also uploaded to YouTube, but was removed due to a copyright complaint from Samsung Malaysia.

The video begins with the song "Believer" by Imagine Dragons. After the folded Galaxy Z Flip 3 is shown bouncing around, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 opens and the S Pen is panned as it slides along the glass. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 then falls into a pool of black liquid. Both models are then placed side by side with water splashing from the back. Yes, it appears that both new foldables will be waterproof.

Then a final splash page appears, announcing that both models are available for reservation.

This video, if not an elaborate hoax and coming from Samsung, seems to confirm much of what has been reported over the past few months. First, both models have improved water and dust resistance. Second, that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 features S Pen support, minus the slot. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is also expected to feature a larger cover display.

Reliable leaker Max Weinback added credence to the S Pen claim by tweeting that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 requires a specific pen and that an incompatible folding S Pen would prompt users to stop.

In discussions with display experts, it was said that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 could use electrostatic digitizer technology instead of electromagnetic. This would improve touch sensitivity and only certain pens would be supported.

All of this and more, of course, will be revealed at the Galaxy Unpacked event on August 11.
