Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 full specs reportedly leaked — here's all the upgrades

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will be unveiled at the Samsung Unpacked 2021 event this Wednesday, but it appears that not many surprises are left. After the official brochure for the foldable was leaked yesterday, WinFuture appears to have obtained comprehensive specifications for the next-generation Fold and Flip.

Nothing too surprising in the latest leaks, but both confirm what we've heard elsewhere, revealing specific detailed technical information rather than just a top-down overview.

Starting with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, as has been widely covered elsewhere, the phone is powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 888 chip, backed by 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of onboard storage reportedly; WinFuture reports that it will not feature a microSD card slot.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3's rumored screen specs will be an external 6.2-inch panel with a resolution of 2,268 x 832 when closed and a larger 7.6-inch 2,208 x 1,768 tablet when open, WinFuture said. Both panels will likely feature Gorilla Glass Victus, which offers a 120Hz refresh rate and should offer twice the scratch resistance of the previous generation.

Once again, Samsung seems to promise a phone that will withstand up to 200,000 folds. This is the equivalent of opening and closing the handset more than 100 times a day for five years. And as previously revealed, the device should now offer IPX8 water resistance for added peace of mind.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 will reportedly feature a triple camera array consisting of three 12-megapixel sensors. The main lens will reportedly have an aperture of f/1.8, while the ultra-wide-angle and zoom lenses will reportedly have apertures of f/2.2 and f/2.4, respectively. The Galaxy Fold 3's unique design means that two front-facing cameras are needed, both for when the device is folded and unfolded. The latter is rumored to be the company's first under-screen camera with a 4MP sensor, while the former will be a more orthodox 10MP one.

A 4,400mAh battery will reportedly power the entire device, and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is said to weigh 271 grams or 9.55 ounces, lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 2's 9.9 ounces

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 shares some of the rumored core specs, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and IPX8 water resistance, but is generally not as powerful, given its purported low price.

The Z Flip 3 is said to have 8GB RAM instead of the Z Fold 3's 12GB and one less camera, with a 12MP, f/1.8 wide lens and a 12MP, f/2,2 ultra-wide sensor. Therefore, telephoto lenses are not expected. There is also a choice of 128GB and 256GB of storage, with no expansion via microSD card.

There are still two screens, but the form factor is very different, as one would expect from a flip phone; according to WinFuture, when folded, the rumored 1.9" 260 x 512 cover display will allow previewing notifications, taking selfies, music controls, and more. When open, it should be a 6.7-inch 2,640 x 1,080 panel. Both are said to be AMOLED panels with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

The smaller form factor means that the battery should also be smaller, with a 3,300mAh cell and the entire device reportedly weighing only 183 grams (6.4 oz.).

Neither of these two spec sheets are unexpected, but while the technical information is all very interesting, the real magic should come when we see the phone in action. And we still don't know the final prices of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

Samsung may also unveil the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Buds 2, and Unpacked, which will be an entertaining show.
