Here's what we know so far about "The Mighty Ducks": Game Changers Season 2

Disney Plus has ordered "The Mighty Ducks" Season 2: Game Changers" Season 2 will air on August 2, with a release date yet yet to be determined.

According to Deadline, production on Season 2 will begin in early 2022. Filming for Season 1 ran from September to December 2020. Post-production editing required only a few months, as the series debuted in March 2021.

If "Mighty Ducks": Game Changers season 2 follows a similar schedule, filming could be completed by spring 2022, with the first broadcast in summer 2022 at the earliest.

The cast of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers season 2 includes Lauren Graham as Alex Morrow, Brady Noon as Evan Morrow, and Emilio Estevez as Gordon Bombay.

They are joined by:

The cast of the original film also appeared in season 1 and may appear again:

In season 2, Joshua Jackson as Charlie Conway, star of the original version of "Dax." Kenan Thompson may reprise his role as Russ Tyler.

Creator Steve Brill told TVLine, "Josh and I are ...... We were in negotiations four years ago to do this show together. For Season 2, we would like to go over that concept again, depending on his schedule. It's a big commitment and he's always been on different shows. I really want to be able to write him a great role and a great arc in one season."

He also spoke to SlashFilm about Thompson's possible return. Brill explained, "When I talked to Kennan, I said, 'I want to use you for real and I want you to actually come in and do a story, not just a cameo.'"

"So that's my hope for the future. I think Kenan's Russ Tyler character mysteriously left to appear on 'Saturday Night Live. It makes perfect sense."

"The Mighty Ducks": Game Changers season 2 still has much to explore after the satisfying conclusion of season 1.

In the finale, the Don't Bothers had to forfeit the state championship game due to Sophie's injury. However, as a side bet, they took on the Ducks, won, and regained their team name.

Now the new Mighty Ducks are ready to embark on their next journey. They may try to win the state championship again. Or, like in the movie D2, they may end up competing against international rivals. Brill hinted at this possibility to SlashFilm, but seems to be saving that storyline for a future season.

"I think of it like a movie. It's like the whole team moving on to another adventure together. They could stay in Minneapolis and put more roots into the story there. But ultimately they should go and play in Europe." They should go to Europe, like they did in Season 4. When the season starts, they should definitely go to Europe and play in international tournaments."
