iPhone13 can get a big battery life upgrade - Here

Apple's iPhone 13 may have a larger battery but may not require a larger chassis.

According to DigiTimes and its supply chain sources, future iPhones will increase the use of integrated passive devices (IPDs) in the iPhone's peripheral chips rather than the expected A15 Bionic chipset. These IPD chips are said to be slimmer than previous peripheral components, which could allow Apple to make room inside the next-generation iPhone for a larger battery.

DigiTimes does not note exactly which iPhones will use IPDs, but claims that Apple has approved chip partner TSMC's latest 6th generation process to mass produce IPDs for future iPhones and iPads. This suggests that IPDs will likely be used in the iPhone 13.

The iPhone 12's battery life was less than impressive in our tests, with only the largest iPhone 12 Pro Max making our best smartphone battery life list. with 5G connectivity, battery life can often take a hit and we have seen this happen with the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, and iPhone 12 Pro. So even with all of Apple's optimizations, sometimes having larger cells is the only way to seriously improve battery life.

Ming-Chi Kuo's report on the iPhone 13's so-called soft battery technology claimed that the new iPhone could increase battery capacity without increasing the design footprint. This seems to be supported by leaker L0vetodream's recent claim that all iPhone 13 models will have increased battery capacity.

And this may be particularly pertinent for the iPhone 13, or at least the Pro model. In Android phones like the Oppo FInd X3 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21, high refresh rates are known to consume more battery power than older 60Hz displays. consumption than the older 60Hz displays. Therefore, a larger battery in the iPhone 13 could compensate for the extra power consumption.

Beyond the possibility of a larger battery, iPhone 13 rumors so far suggest solid upgrades, including a smaller notch, better specs, and an improved camera with astrophotography mode and sensor-shift image stabilization. The iPhone 13 Pro model may also feature a folded-lens camera for improved optical zoom performance, and may include an always-on display.

We expect the iPhone 13 series to be revealed at some point in September, so it won't take much time to see if these rumors bear fruit. Or maybe not.
