"Suicide Squad" has not one, but two post-credits scenes, one very early in the credits and one at the very end. After enjoying director James Gunn's, shall we say, interesting taste in credit music.

If you have seen "Suicide Squad," you may be wondering what these two scenes mean for the future of the Squad, and the DCEU as a whole. But if you haven't seen the movie yet, consider this a spoiler warning. The film is wonderfully funny and well worth seeing in the theater or streaming on HBO Maxx.

Now that you've seen the movie (or chose to ignore our advice), let's break down both post-credit scenes and explore what happened and what it means for future "Suicide Squad" movies.

One of DC's deepest cuts in "Suicide Squad" is the appearance of Weasel (Sean Gunn), a hideous-looking humanoid creature who first appeared in the comics in 1985. It appeared to have drowned during its first beach landing on Corto Maltese, but Savant's (Michael Rooker) declaration of death may have been a bit premature.

The first post-credit scene reveals that Weasel did indeed survive the ordeal. In this brief sequence, we see him regain consciousness and wander through the jungle. Does this mean that Weasel could get his own spin-off movie or play an important role in a future "Suicide Squad" film?

Probably not. Weasel is definitely a disposable comic relief character in "Suicide Squad" and will almost certainly remain so. He may make a small cameo in a possible sequel, but there is a good chance that this post-credits scene will be the last time we hear this strange creature's voice.

In the third act of Suicide Squad, it is revealed that Peacemaker (John Cena) actually has a secret agenda. This peace-loving anti-hero is actually helping Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) to cover up America's involvement in the human experimentation that took place in Colt Malta.

This puts him in direct conflict with Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman) and Bloodsport (Idris Elba). The latter shoots the Peacemaker in the throat in dramatic fashion as the surrounding facilities collapse. The Peacemaker's death seemed almost certain.

However, a second bonus scene that plays at the very end of the credits proves otherwise. The Peacemaker was pulled from the rubble, presumably at Waller's direction. Two of her helpers visit the hospital where Peacemaker is being treated, where she has the aforementioned bullet hole in her throat.

That Peacemaker's death is a fake-out should come as no great shock to DC fans who have been paying attention. John Cena has already confirmed that he will return to the role in a Peacemaker TV series that will debut on HBO Max in January 2022.

Waller's two helpers, John Economos (Steve Agee) and Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), are also confirmed to return for the series. They will appear as handlers who help the Peacemakers in their mission to "save the world."

The series is also set to explore the origins of this character. So will we learn why he is so obsessed with achieving peace at any cost?

There is no doubt that Peacemaker will have some revenge on Bloodsport. Unfortunately, that will have to wait, as (as far as we know) Idris Elba has no plans to appear in a spin-off TV series. Perhaps the pair's grudge match will be saved for a third "Suicide Squad" film?
