Sweet Tooth Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

It's time to start talking about "Sweet Tooth" Season 2.

Based on Jeff Lemire's hit comic book series, the show follows a half-human, half-deer boy named Gus as he navigates the cruel and strangely beautiful world left behind after a mysterious disease known as "the disease" strikes Earth. To say that the disease is addictive is an understatement.

Given that the first season of "Sweet Tooth" has been watched by over 60 million households since its release in June 2021, it is no surprise that Netflix has decided to renew it for season two. The news was announced earlier this week and sent fans into a frenzy of excitement as the show returns to Jeff Lemire's post-apocalyptic world after "The Great Collapse."

While there is no doubt that Gus' story will continue next season, many of the details of what can be expected in the new group of episodes are still up in the air. However, there are a few things we do know (or at least can speculate) about "Teeth for Love" Season 2.

Netflix just officially announced the second season renewal of "Sweet Tooth" on July 29, so a Season 2 release date is likely to be quite some time away; considering that Netflix's original series tend to have long gaps of 12 to 18 months between seasons ( Ozark"), the release date for Season 2 of "Sweet Tooth" is likely to be in late 2022 or early 2023.

Of course, that could change at any time, especially given the COVID-19 delays that many productions have faced and are still dealing with. In other words, it is still pretty much up in the air, but Netflix knows that fans are clamoring for new episodes and hopes that they will be available as soon as possible.

No word yet on whether filming has begun on a second season of "Sweet Tooth," and if not, when. However, given the scale of the production and the fact that the post-production to insert and finalize CGI and other special effects is likely to be quite lengthy, it is likely that filming will have to begin in the next few months, if it has not already begun, in order for season two to be ready for a timely release. should begin.

Despite being set in the United States, Season 1 of Sweet Tooth was actually filmed in New Zealand and was one of the only productions allowed to shoot in 2020 when the country was blockaded. In the interest of continuity, Season 2 will likely return to New Zealand.

The official cast for the second season has not yet been announced, but the lineup is not expected to change much. For example, Christian Convery is almost certain to return as Gus/Sweet Tooth, while Dania Ramirez, Nonso Anozie, and Will Forte are likely to reprise their roles as Amy Eden, Tommy Jeppard/Big Man, and Pumba, respectively.

Also expected to return are Adeel Akhtar as Dr. Aditya Singh, Stefania Ravi Owen as Bear/Rebecca Walker, Neil Sandilands as General Douglas Abbott, and of course James Brolin as Narrator The cast additions will be kept under wraps. Keep an eye on the cast additions, but given that there were no major deaths or losses in the first season, be assured that nearly everyone will be (or at least should be) in season two.

The first season ended on a rather grim note: Gus was finally captured by Abbott, who has taken over the Protectorate and is having Singh experiment on the hybrids to find a cure. Jeppard and Amy make a plan to save the children from the lab, but it won't necessarily succeed, and if it does, what repercussions will result from their rescue attempt?

Season 2 of "Teeth for Love" will likely focus heavily on Abbott and Gus' new adopted family's battle, at least for the first half. But there is also the fact that Gus has been able to contact his "dead" mother, who is apparently in Alaska. It will be interesting to see how that relationship develops and what will be revealed about Gus' mother's life and past (since you know there is a bombshell there).

There is no trailer yet for Season 2 of "Teeth for Love," as it has not yet finished filming and may not even have started. However, it will definitely be released a month or so before the new episodes are available on Netflix, so stay tuned.
