Staying up for the live stream of Team USA vs. Iran. This July 28 game starts off with a ton of tension for both sides, and it is without the coffee that may be needed for those back in the US to stay awake for the next Team USA basketball live stream of the Tokyo Olympics.

No one doubts the overall talent of Team USA. Nevertheless, the question is whether they can gel and come together to get back on track, as they do not want to be the first US team to fail to win gold since the 2004 Olympics.

The big dilemma for those at home is whether to watch the games live (which is likely for those on the West Coast who can tune in at 9:40 PM PT) or wait for the replay on Wednesday afternoon.

Oh, and if you want to see it live, you'll have to pay the peacock.

The Olympics are a global event and can be seen in almost every country on earth. However, if you are not in your country and cannot watch the live stream of Team USA vs. Iran on your regular service, or if you prefer to watch it in your native language, you are not out of luck.

With a virtual private network, or VPN, you can pretend you are surfing the web from your hometown (or anywhere else not hit by power outages) and access the same streaming services you have already paid for VPNs are perfectly legal and inexpensive and easy to use.

Unless you have a cable account and can watch on NBCOlympics.com, you will need NBC's streaming service Peacock to watch the live stream of Team USA vs. Iran.

To watch the tape delay stream, you need NBC, which is included in the $35/month Sling TV Blue package. The Sports Extras package (an additional $11/month) gets you Olympic channels; Sling is one of the best streaming services for Olympic viewing alongside our other recommendation: Fubo TV has over 100 channels (more than Sling), including all of the above networks.

BBC iPlayer has been a dependable source for some Olympic coverage for people in the UK, but it does not list a live stream of Team USA vs. Iran starting at 5:40 am (BST).

However, it will definitely be available on the new Discovery Plus service, which has the rights to complete coverage of the Tokyo Olympics. This year, while the BBC is limited to two events that can be broadcast live at one time, all sports and all competitions will be available on Discovery Plus, as well as on the Eurosport channel.

Discovery is currently offering a three-day free trial of the service, after which a full subscription is available for £6.99 per month or £29.99 per year. Additionally, the service is streamable through a number of devices, including Chromecast, Apple TV, Android TV, and apps for iOS and Android.

Americans abroad can use their favorite service by logging in via a VPN such as ExpressVPN.

The Olympics continue to be a mess.

TSN may be your best bet, since its schedule lists Olympic coverage from midnight, while Sportsnet's coverage does not list basketball as one of the sports it covers.

Again, Americans can visit their friends in the great white north and just use Peacock, provided they log in via a VPN such as ExpressVPN.

Down Under, Aussies can watch Team USA vs. Iran for free on the network's 7Plus streaming service. The live stream of Team USA vs. Iran should begin around 2:40 p.m. AEST.
