Samsung Galaxy S22 could Blow up iphone13 — Here's Why

Apple appears to be gearing up for a major launch of its iPhone 13 series. In fact, one early report suggests that the company may increase iPhone 13 production by as much as 20% in preparation for Apple's rumored September event.

However, Samsung is reportedly waiting with its own Galaxy S22, which, according to rumors, could outperform the iPhone 13 in a number of ways. For one, Samsung has already publicly stated that it is partnering with AMD on a new Exynos chip, which could provide very impressive graphics power for Samsung's 2022 flagship phone.

The Galaxy S22 could also feature a more exciting and futuristic design, a more ambitious camera system, faster charging, and more. Based on early rumors and leaks, here is how the Galaxy S22 could surpass the iPhone 13.

Samsung and AMD are officially partnering on a new Exynos mobile chip featuring AMD's RDNA2 graphics architecture. This custom graphics is said to promise unprecedented power from Android phones, offering perks such as ray tracing and variable rate shading.

The AMD-powered Exynos 2200 chip is expected to appear in laptops and tablets later this year, but could also be found in phones like the Galaxy S22 early next year. according to Twitter's Ice Universe, the new Exynos chip recorded a very impressive 3D Mark Wild Life benchmark score of 8,134 at 50.3 frames per second.

By comparison, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is far behind, recording 6,618 at 39 fps in our tests. However, it is not known at this stage how much faster the A15 Bionic, which is expected to be included in the iPhone 13, will be.

The iPhone 13 will reportedly shrink the notch by more than 25%, but Samsung is said to have more ambitious plans for the Galaxy S22. Rumors suggest that the new Galaxy S22 may feature a selfie camera under the display, which will only appear when needed. Whether it will be invisible or not remains to be seen, but it would be much less of an eyesore than the notch.

Samsung will reportedly include this feature in the Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldable phone first before bringing it to other devices. Additionally, Samsung will no doubt continue to offer an in-display fingerprint sensor in the S22. Apple will reportedly not offer Touch ID on its flagships until the iPhone 14 in 2022.

According to leaker Yogesh on Twitter, Samsung and Olympus have discussed a possible partnership. According to him, the partnership could lead to a special edition of the Galaxy Fold and the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Samsung is already pushing the limits of cameras with the Galaxy S21 Ultra's 100x space zoom.

However, Samsung also needs to step up in terms of software and computational photography. For example, the iPhone 13 is said to feature a new portrait video mode along with an astrophotography feature for capturing the night sky.

In Apple's iPhone 13 lineup, only the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro are said to offer 120Hz ProMotion displays. Then the regular iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will have a slower refresh rate.

However, the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra should all have 120Hz panels, similar to the Galaxy S21 series; the S22 Ultra will go a step further and use an LTPO panel, which will reduce the refresh rate to 10 Hz, allowing for longer battery life.

Rumors suggest that Samsung may step up from 25W charging in the Galaxy S21 series to 45W charging in the Galaxy S22. While this is not as fast as the OnePlus Ultra's 65W, which is the fastest charging we have tested, it is definitely an upgrade.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that Apple may be working on a transition from 20W charging to 25W charging for the iPhone 13, although the leaker's track record is somewhat sketchy.

While we hope the iPhone 13 will be a success, the Galaxy S22 seems more exciting, at least from the rumors so far. I'm especially curious to see if AMD graphics will be included in the new model. Because Samsung (and all Android phones) have been lagging behind the iPhone in terms of performance for some time.

Add an Olympus-grade camera system, faster charging, and a front design that literally has no notches or punch holes, and the Galaxy S22 could be a force to be reckoned with.
