While the launch of the iPhone 13 is imminent, some in the industry are already looking forward to the iPhone 14 in 2022. it seems unlikely that we will hear much about that model until the iPhone 13 frenzy dies down, but on a conference call for investors at JP Morgan Chase & Co, possible details about the 2022 iPhone may have been revealed.

iPhone As reported by Wired, the iPhone 14 Pro may feature a titanium alloy body, making it extremely durable. The titanium alloy would be more resistant to scratches, corrosion, and bending than stainless steel or aluminum. However, it is also more susceptible to fingerprints, and its durability makes it resistant to etching (for the most important Apple logo).

Of course, Apple being Apple, will find a way around these weaknesses. Since the report only mentions the iPhone 14 Pro, it is possible that the base model iPhone 14 will stick with aluminum. After all, Apple wants to save the most premium experience for the Pro model.

We haven't even seen the iPhone 13 yet, so details about the iPhone 14 are far from set in stone. In fact, Apple may abandon the idea altogether.

A titanium alloy phone would be something else, as it is a material we are not used to seeing in smartphones. It is also more expensive but it has notable advantages over stainless steel and aluminum. This could mean that Apple will have a smaller margin on iPhone 14 Pro sales or, more likely, that the company will raise the price of the Pro model to compensate.

We probably won't hear much about the iPhone 14 until well into 2022. One reason we think we have heard a lot about the iPhone 13 is that the telecommuting thing has led to leaks in Apple's supply chain. Apple will likely require employees to return to work later this year, so there may be fewer iPhone 14 leaks. We will have to wait and see.

For now, all eyes are on the iPhone 13, which is expected to be released this September.
