There is good news and not-so-good news about Season 2 of Invincible. Let's start with the former. Amazon has announced the renewal of its latest supernatural series (and double it), so fans can look forward to the continuation of the Invincible and Omniman family drama.

With such success, it is unlikely that Amazon will consider discontinuing the drama for long. It is right up there with "The Boys" in terms of popular series on streaming services, and it will be interesting to see what super-powerful direction Amazon takes next.

And since I'm about to introduce you to all of "Invincible Season 2," consider this a spoiler warning for "Invincible Season 1." If you haven't seen it yet, "Invincible" is a superhero series that starts soundly and quickly becomes dramatic.

One of the show's biggest characters is Omniman (voiced by J.K. Simmons), who is also a father named Nolan Grayson, whose son Mark Grayson is unable to escape the shadow of his dear old father. He doesn't even (at the start of the show) have superpowers.

Before suggesting when "Invincible" Season 2 will be available online, let's back up a bit. Amazon announced on April 29 that it had ordered "Invincible" Season 2 and Season 3.

And while most major shows have suffered delays (we're looking at you, Stranger Things Season 4 - Where Are You?), Invincible Season 2 will probably not suffer the same because it can be produced remotely.

So, Invincible Season 2 is expected to drop in the spring of 2022, a little over a year later, with Season 3 arriving about a year after that.

At this time, we expect Invincible Season 2 to retain most of the Season 1 regulars. The full list is as follows. It is not known if Zachary Quinto will return for the second installment. He voiced Robot in Season 1, but Robot is no longer hosted by Rudy Connors. Of course, given the content of the comic, Robot will be in more of the show, but plot details for "Invincible" Seasons 2 and 3 have not yet been revealed.

As for new characters, creator/screenwriter Robert Kirkman told ComicBook.com that he hopes to add a "Walking Dead" companion in Stephen Yeun. Specifically, he said, "There is no actor on 'The Walking Dead' that I would not want to work with again. They are a great group of actors. Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Jeffrey Dean Morgan ...... I can't think of anyone I wouldn't want to call."

Powerplex, a character who survived the battle between Omniman and Invincible in the comics, is a likely new addition to the series. He harbors a grudge against Invincible, but has a backstory that makes him sympathetic. No word yet on who will voice him.

However, Slug (a veteran of the Viltrum Civil War) seems right up Jeffrey Dean Morgan's alley. A major villain in the comic "Invincible," Slerg demands that everyone submit to the rule of the Viltrumites.

The comic series provides a dizzying array of storylines that season two could unfold. Nevertheless, the disastrous conclusion of Season 1 gives us some idea of where things are headed.

According to the Season 1 finale, Mark's world has been turned upside down. His father, Omniman, wiped out his family and left Mark on top of a mountain. Omniman left Earth after nearly killing his son. In a clip discussing additional plot possibilities, it was announced that they were going into space and that the villain Angstrom Levy would appear.

Although he has left for now, Nolan inevitably returns with the entire race of Virtorum, who are determined to make Earth part of their alien kingdom. In the final episode of Season 1, Cecil asks Mark to replace his father as Earth's champion and also plans to graduate from high school.

Also, the other villains return in droves, amidst the chaos of the impending Wiltormit invasion. After blowing up the last laboratory, the Maurer twins are returned to the GDA prison on Earth. Not to mention the villain, Doc Seistic, who is still alive and forming an army of rock monsters underground on Earth.

It is too early for a trailer for "Invincible" Season 2; a trailer is expected to appear in late 2021, once more work is done on this series.

In fact, it is not yet known which comics will be used in the next season. But since the first eight episodes only covered the first 23 issues of the comic, there is reason to believe that issues 24 through 46 are worth reading if you want to know what happens next. And, of course, if you want to prepare for Season 3, read up to issue 69. [With 144 "Invincible" comics spanning 15 years of Robert Kirkman's career, at this rate the "Invincible" series could be roughly complete around season 7 or 8. Kirkman told Den of Geek, "We might be able to tell the whole [story] somewhere between five and seven seasons, and five seasons would obviously make more of a difference than doing seven. The plan is to have enough seasons to tell at least the full length of Invincible's journey, as told in the comic books."

Of course, we are aware that television programming is perhaps one of the least secure assets in the hyper-competitive broadcast world. Especially in a world where broadcasts are not discontinued unless ratings meet expectations.

If all goes well and the Amazon Prime show continues, the first eight episodes will only cover the first 23 issues of the comic, and the "Invincible" series will be roughly complete around season 7 or 8. This is due to the fact that the first season tweaked the comic's plot structure.
