Good Omens Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

It seems the afterlife is still out there. Season 2 of "Good Omens" is actually going to be produced. Yes, Amazon Prime's "Good Omens" is based on a book, and the entire story of that book was told in its first season. However, a second season was still to be produced.

Quite surprising, considering that the first season was a complete story in itself. However, it appears that "Good Omens" was a big enough hit that Amazon Prime and BBC Studios have tapped co-author Neil Gaiman for another story.

Season 2 of Good Omens was announced on Twitter, with the show's official account tweeting a poster and the caption. #Good Omens Season 2," along with the caption "Good Omens Season 2.

No release date for Good Omens' second season has been set as of yet, but according to EW, the new show will begin filming in Scotland later this year.

Therefore, the release date for season 2 of Good Omens could be mid to late 2022. We will pass along more details as they become available. The series will likely be streaming on Amazon Prime worldwide. The BBC's involvement, confirmed by Neil Gaiman, suggests that it may eventually be broadcast on BBC channels in the UK and elsewhere.

EW has confirmed that Michael Sheen and David Tennant will reprise their roles as the demon Crowley and the angel Azirafaire.

Neil Gaiman, co-author of The Good Omens and the writer and showrunner of Season 1, will also return. This time, however, he will share writing duties with John Finnemore and showrunner with Season 1 director Douglas McKinnon.

With no original book, it is a little unclear what Good Omens 2 will actually be about. In the aforementioned EW article, Gaiman noted that he and the late Terry Pratchett had discussed how the story might play out in a sequel novel. Unfortunately, Pratchett died before the project became a full-fledged project.

Gayman confirmed that some of these ideas were utilized in the show's first season, particularly in the role of the angel Gabriel, played by Jon Hamm. He also confirmed that some of them would see the light of day as part of the show's second season.

What we do know about the sequel series is that Gaiman again confirmed that the story will begin with an "unexpected messenger" visiting Aziraphail's bookstore. Gayman said, "We will return to Soho and solve a mystery that begins with an angel wandering through Soho with no memory of time and space."
