Ginny and Georgia Season 2: Everything You Know So Far

[Ginny and Georgia] Season 2 is coming soon, and Netflix previously announced the hit show's return with an adorable announcement video featuring the cast, including stars Brian Howey and Antonia Gentry. However, no announcement has yet been made as to when "Ginny and Georgia" Season 2 will begin filming. At least the Taylor Swift controversy seems to have been blown out of the water, thank goodness. We love Tay and we love Ginny and Georgia.

The drama, which has been compared to "Gilmore Girls," debuted on February 26 and quickly became one of Netflix's best and most popular shows. The series is half coming-of-age story, half thriller, and stars Georgia (Brian Howie), a 30-year-old single mother of 15-year-old Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and 9-year-old Austin (Diesel La Traca). After Georgia's ex-husband dies a suspicious death, they move to an idyllic New England town to start over.

Ginny, whose father is black, wants nothing more than to put down roots and find a place to belong. When she becomes friends with her neighbor Max (Sarah Weisglass) and starts dating school favorite Hunter Chen (Mason Temple), her wish seems to have come true. However, things get complicated when Ginny develops feelings for Max's twin brother Marcus (Felix Ballard).

Georgia sets her sights on the town's handsome mayor, Paul Randolph (Scott Porter). However, secrets from her past are uncovered and the new life she is trying to build for her family is about to be destroyed. Season 1 ends with a big cliffhanger as Ginny hits rock bottom while Georgia celebrates her big win.

Here's what we know so far about Season 2 for Ginny and Georgia.

As of now, there is no Ginny and Georgia Season 2 release.

On April 19, Netflix finally officially confirmed that the show would be renewed for a second season.

So this is good news. The bad news is that it may be a while before Season 2 premieres. Filming for Season 1 lasted four months, but the show did not air for more than a year after it ended.

Given the production delays caused by the coronavirus outbreak, it is unclear when filming for "Ginny and Georgia" Season 2 will even begin. Therefore, it is likely that the release date will be in the summer or fall of 2022.

Netflix has yet to release a trailer with footage, but the Season 2 announcement was accompanied by the cutest footage featuring cast members Antonia Gentry, Brian Howie, Felix Mallard, and Scott Porter.

There was at least one person who wasn't a fan of Ginny and Georgia Season 1, and it was someone very famous.

Taylor Swift bashed the show and Netflix with jokes about her. In one scene, Ginny gets angry at her mother for questioning her about her love life." Why do you care. You go through guys faster than Taylor Swift," she tells Georgia.

Swift's fans criticized the line on social media as misogynistic, and the megastar singer herself responded on Twitter. Swift's post specifically blasted Netflix, which distributed her documentary "Miss Americana" in early 2020.

Neither Netflix nor the show's creators commented on the controversy.

Following Swift's message, "Respect Taylor Swift" began trending on Twitter, with some comments beginning to harass the show's cast, including 23-year-old Antonia Gentry (who plays Ginny). One follower wrote under Gentry's post, "I love Taylor, but please stop harassing Antonia. She didn't write that line. She doesn't deserve this."

Gentry posted the message on his Instagram, although he did not directly address Swift's saga.

"Thank you for your love and support for me and our show Ginny and Georgia over the last week. To have such an influential voice, this is something I could never have imagined as a young girl," Gentry wrote.

Although an official announcement has yet to be made, two title characters are expected to return if "Ginny and Georgia" Season 2 gets the go-ahead. They are Brian Howey as Georgia Miller and Antonia Gentry as Ginny Miller.

Nikki Rumel will likely return as the teenage Georgia in flashbacks.

As for the rest of "Ginny and Georgia" Season 2, we can probably expect:

The "Ginny and Georgia" Season 1 finale ends with a big cliffhanger: Ginny leaves Wellesbury on a motorcycle with Austin. But what drives the Georgia kids to make such a drastic decision? A brief recap of what happened in episode 10 of Ginny and Georgia:

Georgia's shady plan is nearly exposed when Cynthia accuses her of cashing campaign checks (discovered while snooping around the office). However, Georgia gets the money back just in time. Nick saw the money was gone. Nick saw the money was gone.

Joe realizes that he had met Georgia when he was a teenager, thanks to a passing remark by Ginny. But just as he is about to confess, he learns that she is engaged to Paul.

At a school musical, Max ends his friendship with Ginny. When Ginny tries to contact him, Max reveals that he knows that Ginny had sex with Marcus.

Ginny then accidentally throws Abby under the bus and MANG completely collapses. Ginny makes out with everyone, including her ex-boyfriend, Hunter.

After he makes another racist remark, Ginny blackmails an English teacher into writing her a hot recommendation letter.

Austin returns to the classroom and has to confront the bully when the teacher meets him outside. Georgia notices that he is skipping school.

Private investigator Gabriel Cordova confronts Ginny with information that Georgia may have poisoned her husband Kenny Drexel.

At Paul's re-election party, Cordova asks Georgia what she did with Kenny's missing body. She implies that she "scattered the ashes" with the celebratory fireworks.

Ginny and Austin burn their mother's poisonous plants and drive out of town. The destination is unknown.

Ginny's next destination is determined. Star Antonia Gentry revealed a crucial detail about the finale, confirming fan theories about where Ginny will begin the next season.

When it comes to what's next for Netflix, it doesn't get much bigger than "Stranger Things" Season 4. This winter we have "The Witcher" Season 2 and "You" Season 3, while "Emily in Paris" Season 2, "Sex Education" Season 3, and "Virgin River" Season 3 are in production, but a bit further out.

Other big drama news includes the latest gossip about "The Crown" Season 5, which should be very interesting. Oh, and I'm also keeping an eye on "The Elite" Season 5.
