Let's Dance! Here's your chance to see "Space Jam: A New Legacy" online (or in theaters). I just heard that it's actually better than the original. Shocking, isn't it? Yes, we at Tom's Guide have a special place in our hearts for this original film, which attempted a crossover between sports and animation. But that's a story for another day.

We are excited about this film because we will most likely be watching "Space Jam 2" at home. Like LeBron James and company, the long-rumored sequel is finally being released. Yes, they are not going into space, but into cyberspace. But it's still a "space jam".

This time, however, MJ has been replaced by LeBron James. He has had a lot of free time on his hands since the Lakers were eliminated from the NBA playoffs. Space Jam 2 should take his mind off the court by putting him in a virtual court. In Space Jam 2: A New Legacy, LeBron and his son Dom (Cedric Joe) are somehow trapped in a virtual court. Warner 3000 serververse. This is how Warner Media characters (such as Mask, Pennywise the clown from IT/IT: "When You See It, It's Over," Voldemort, etc.) appear in the film.

And instead of fighting the Monsters, LeBron and the Looney Tunes gang will face off against Al-G Rhythm (Don Cheadle), a diabolical and treasonous piece of artificial intelligence. But like the Monsters, Rhythm has his own team of superstar athletes who form the Goon Squad.

Interestingly, they are all voiced by basketball superstars. Klay Thompson is the hot-headed Wet Fire, LeBron's teammate Anthony Davis is The Brow, Damian Lillard is the speedy Kronos, Diana Taurasi is White Mamba, and Nneka Ogwumike voices the spider-like Arachneka.

In the U.S. (and some U.S. territories), HBO Max is streaming "Space Jam 2" exclusively. This service will begin on Friday, July 16 and end on or about Monday, August 16.

The HBO Max app is available on Roku, Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, Android devices and Android TV, Chromecast, Fire TV, Playstation 4 and PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, and Samsung TV (2016 and later), Chrome, Firefox and Safari web browsers.

There is no HBO Max in Canada, but "Space Jam: A New Legacy" is available on pay-per-view video-on-demand for $24.99 CAD; Apple TV/iTunes, Google Play, Cineplex Store, Amazon Prime Video, and other services.

Space Jam: A New Legacy will also be shown in Canadian cinemas. Ontario cinemas will reopen on July 16, the release date of Space Jam 2.

There is only one way for people in the UK to see "Space Jam: A New Legacy": go to the cinema. Yes, "Space Jam 2" is apparently not available on video-on-demand services in the UK, where there is no HBO Max.

You don't have to have a high hoops IQ to know that the film is definitely not going to be a critical darling. It is currently at 38% on Rotten Tomatoes (down from 56% earlier this week).

The best critic comment was Graeme Tuckett of Stuff.co.nz, who said, "'Space Jam' has a very real feeling: 'Space Jam: A New Legacy' is a love letter to film and the people who make it."
