Samsung Galaxy S22 rumors predict the upgrade we have been waiting for

Update: The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is also set to charge at 45 watts.

Samsung is not much of a go-to company if you want the absolute fastest phone charging imaginable. But that may change with the Samsung Galaxy S22.

According to Samsung leaker and reputable Ice Universe (via MyFixGuide), the company is testing faster charging speeds available with the S22. Apparently 25W, 45W, and 65W charging are planned.

While companies like OnePlus and Huawei are pushing the limits of fast charging with speeds above 65W, Samsung is not. In fact, Samsung seems to be deliberately avoiding fast charging above 25W in its latest devices.

Although rare, Samsung has offered 45W charging in the past; the Galaxy Note 10 Plus and Galaxy S20 Ultra both offered 45W charging speeds as optional accessories, but Samsung did not offer the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra dropped it when it was released last year. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra also had a maximum of 25W.

Such speeds have only been offered on these two models, which were the most expensive in their respective series. Cheaper models have been limited to 25W. It is unclear which S22 will be faster, but hopefully the base-level S22 model will be able to get in on the action.

At the very least, expect the Samsung Galaxy S22 to offer 25W fast charging. This is the lowest speed in years, and the last time Samsung offered anything slower than this was the 15W fast charge offered by the Galaxy S10 series.

However, given that the FCC listing for the Galaxy S21 FE mentions 45W fast charging, it is certainly possible that the regular S22 will receive the same treatment.

Still, if 45W speeds might be on the Galaxy S22, what about the Galaxy S22 Ultra The Galaxy S21 Ultra's S Pen support is a good example of this. In other words, if the S22 supports 45W charging, it would not be outlandish to hope that the S22 Ultra will support faster 65W charging.

Given that little information is available about the Galaxy S22 series, it is impossible to say anything for certain right now. It is also highly unlikely how far in the future the estimated release date will be.

Still, given that it's been two years since Samsung gave its flagship a boost in charging speed, don't you think it's about time it did so again?
