The Witcher The Witcher prequel series may have been completely overshadowed while waiting for the release date of The Witcher Season 2, but news of a big casting call has come in. And we're even more excited about the upcoming series, which we're sure will be a blast.

Netflix revealed in a press email that Michelle Yeoh ("Crouching Tiger," "Hidden Dragon," "Crazy Rich Asians") will be joining the cast of "The Witcher": Blood Origins She will be playing an entirely new character will be played by: Sukian.

Netflix's description of Scían is as follows: "Scían is the last of a nomadic tribe of sword fairies. No one can match the artistry of her sword, or the many losses in her heart. When the chance arises to reclaim the holy sword stolen from a clan destroyed by evil means, she throws herself into a deadly adventure that will change the course of the continent.

Scían appears in the series alongside two new characters, Fjall (Laurence O'Fuarain) and Éile (Jodie Turner-Smith); according to Netflix, Fjall is metaphorically "haunted by the death of a loved one who died in battle trying to save him. He is haunted". Previously, Netflix has only described Fyre as a "fierce warrior with the voice of a goddess."

"The Witcher": Blood Origin will be set 1,200 years before the timeline of "The Witcher." It will be set in an elven world and will serve as a sort of origin story for the world of the series.

Significant moments in the franchise mythology depicted in the series include the birth of the "first proto-Witcher" and the "coalescence of the spheres" where the realms of monsters, humans, and elves merge.

Netflix mentions that The Witcher: Blood Origin is a six-episode limited series. The "limited series" classification is often used to indicate that a show is intended to have a fixed end date, with no second season.
