Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 First Claims Benchmark Tip specifications and performance

Those wondering what will be in Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 3 when the new version of the foldable arrives in a month need not worry anymore, as benchmark results for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 successor have been posted on the Geekbench website, revealing Samsung's Z Fold 3, revealing the processor that Samsung will use for the Z Fold 3.

Sammobile discovered the Geekbench posting and noted that the phone in question is powered by a Qualcomm system-on-chip called Lahaina. This is the Snapdragon 888, the same chipset found in Samsung's Galaxy S21 lineup. This is a bit of a surprise, since Qualcomm just released an improved version of the Snapdragon 888 Plus, which should be in phones as early as this month.

However, according to Geekbench's listing, the Snapdragon 888 remains the powerful silicon that Samsung is augmenting with 12GB of RAM, and Sammobile reports that a model with 16GB of RAM may also exist claims that a model with 16GB of RAM could also exist.

As for the benchmarks themselves, the device we assume to be the Galaxy Z Fold 3 recorded a single-core score of 1,124 and a multi-core result of 3,350. The Galaxy S21 Ultra with the Snapdragon 888 also recorded 1,123 and 3,440 in the same test, respectively.

We have a fairly complete picture of the Galaxy Z Fold 3's specs, which was helped by an additional leak tweeted by a Twitter user named Tron, who has been posting details about the upcoming phone. According to the tweet, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will feature a triple camera array on the back with a 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 12MP telephoto lens. The ultra-wide lens adds autofocus, while the telephoto camera supports 2x zoom.

In addition, the Galaxy Z Fold could feature a 10MP selfie cam on the cover display and a 16MP under-display camera that could be used when the phone is unfolded.

Thanks to previous leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is already expected to feature a 6.2-inch cover display on the outside of the phone and a 7.55-inch screen when the Z fold is opened. Both screens should offer a 120 Hz refresh rate; the Galaxy Z Fold 3, along with the S21 Ultra, will support Samsung's S Pen stylus.

All that remains is for Samsung to release the phone and make it all official. Rumor has it that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 launch event will take place in August, at which time Samsung will show off another foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
