Rushing to download the tvOS 15 public beta may put your Apple TV at unwanted risk. Unlike other Apple betas, it cannot be easily removed. In fact, if you encounter problems with the public beta Apple TV 4K, you will need to work with Apple. This is discussed below. However, if you really want to try SharePlay on your Apple TV (can't blame you), support spatial audio with AirPods Pro or AirPods Max, or try a dual HomePod mini speaker setup.

Since the Apple TV 4K does not have a USB-C port like the Apple TV HD, there is no way to restore factory settings. Check out the online reaction to this beta and see if it is stable enough. Perhaps wait for the second tvOS 15 public beta. The system itself may be stable, but will third-party apps work well with the tvOS 15 beta?

Also, SharePlay is not supported (at this time) by many third-party apps. Therefore, we will most likely try it with the Apple TV app. This may not be what fans of Disney Plus, Twitch, Hulu, and other announced services want to hear.

If you have never put a beta update on your Apple TV, register your Apple TV with Apple's Beta Software Program.

1. open the Settings app

2. select "System" (if you do not see the option to get the beta download, return to this screen and select "Users and Accounts" with the same Apple ID you used to register for the beta program (Make sure you are logged in)

3. Select "Software Update"

4. Select "Get Beta Update" (it is off here)

5. Click "Get Beta Update" to confirm

6. select "I agree" (you should probably read the legalese, but no one does)

7. select "Download and Install"

Once the download is complete, your Apple TV will restart and install tvOS 14. This will take a while; once the Apple TV is back online, return to the Software Update screen (step 5) to confirm that you are now on tvOS 15.

Now you are probably thinking about what you can do with your newly updated Apple TV.

Again, the Apple TV 4K will need to be repaired by Apple TV support if something goes wrong.
