The much-feared MacBook Pro 2021 could be available in late September in both 14- and 16-inch sizes, giving Apple's flagship laptop a redesign.

This is according to a supply chain report from Digitimes, which claims that Apple is preparing its supply chain partners to launch new MacBooks late in the third quarter of this year. [This report is also consistent with other rumors that Apple will launch a new MacBook with a mini LED display. Apparently, Cupertino is investing in expanding its surface mount technology (SMTY) assembly capacity to meet the demand for mini-LED devices.

Of course, mini LED displays are already used in the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2021, but there are plenty of rumors suggesting that the new 14-inch and MacBook Pro 2021 16-inch will also feature upgraded displays. If Apple is investing to ensure that its partners can meet demand (which has yet to be confirmed), it would be clear that the iPad will not be the only mini-LED Apple product.

DigiTimes reports that MacBook Pro shipments will peak in October. This suggests that the new machines may be released in September, but probably not until the following month.

Without an official announcement from Apple, we cannot be sure if this information is true. And since Apple is Apple, we will not be able to be sure until the new MacBook Pro is actually released.

The result is going to be a rather painful three months for those eager to upgrade their MacBooks. Even more so since the new models are rumored to feature an upgraded Apple M2 chip (or M1X chip) and a new flat-edge design; the MacBook Pro will also reportedly have an upgraded number of ports, including an HDMI port, SD card slot, and MagSafe charger. HDMI port, an SD card slot, and a MagSafe charger.
