Netflix has announced a new feature on Android. This feature allows users to watch content before the download is finished. You can now watch content while it continues downloading in the background or until it reaches a point where the download has stopped.

This upgrade is very useful in a pinch, for example, if you didn't finish downloading a movie before jumping on a train or plane. Previously, you had to download the whole thing before you could watch it, but with the latest version of the Netflix app on Android devices (version 7.64), you don't have to do that anymore.

For now, this feature is only available to Android users. This means that if you are using Netflix on iOS, you will need to download the full content before you can start watching. Curiously, this is not the first time Netflix has opted to roll out the upgrade on Android first. Some users have expressed dislike for the Downloads For You feature because it fills up their device storage with content they don't actually want to watch. It is easy enough to disable. However, the ability to watch partially downloaded content is unlikely to cause such controversy and is certainly a feature that iOS users want sooner rather than later.

So far, 2021 has not been the easiest year for Netflix, which continues to be an industry juggernaut but has lost significant market share to competitors like Disney Plus and HBO Max.
