We hear a lot about the iPhone 13 these days, but have not seen many images of the phone itself. As the next best thing, images of the iPhone 13 dummy unit have been released.

The image in question, from famed Twitter leaker Sonny Dickson, shows off four different iPhone models, which is what we expected. Represented are the base iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Unfortunately, the design is very similar to the iPhone 12 series.

Obviously, the iPhone 13 and 13 mini dummy units feature a small camera design change: the lenses of the two rear cameras are placed diagonally, unlike the vertical layout of the iPhone 12.

At first glance, though, the dummy Pro model looks almost identical to its predecessor. Dixon claims that the Max model looks slightly larger than the iPhone 12 Pro Max, but obviously it is impossible to confirm this from a single photo.

If these dummy units are real, they were most likely provided by some case or accessory manufacturer. You may have noticed that whenever a new iPhone is released, there are always a large number of third-party cases and accessories available. These dummy devices help to test them and ensure that the product is compatible with the phone from day one.

It is not clear whether these were officially provided by Apple or based on leaked specifications and dimensions. Therefore, it is possible that these are an accurate representation of what Apple will be announcing this fall, but there is no way to be sure.

Still, the dummy units are consistent with the rumors we have heard so far. At least it appears so from the back, but the fact that the front of these dummy units is not visible means that we do not know if they will feature the smaller notch that is heavily rumored to be featured on all four iPhone 13 models.

Other rumors say it will have 5.4-, 6.1-, and 6.7-inch displays; the Pro model may have an LTPO panel and an adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate; the Pro model may have an LTPO panel and an adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate. Rumors also suggest that the iPhone 13 will have a larger camera lens, which will improve image quality by delivering more light to the sensor. There are also rumors that the iPhone 13 Pro will have a periscope-like telephoto lens that will allow for greater optical zoom.

Some rumors also suggest that at least the iPhone 13 Pro model will have a 1TB storage option, but this has been refuted by others, so we will have to wait and see what Apple decides. The same is true for TouchID under the display, with conflicting reports that it may be included in the iPhone 13 or is being held back for the iPhone 14 in 2022.

The iPhone 13 is expected to feature the new A15 Bionic chipset and improved 5G, and there are also reports that it may support Wi-Fi 6E, which promises to support faster wireless speeds than regular Wi-Fi 6 can provide.

The iPhone 13 series is currently rumored to launch in the third week of September. If that happens, it should actually reach customers the following week, and let's hope that the iPhone's unassuming exterior design is not representative of the rest of the market.
