We know that the iPhone 13 (or whatever the final name is) is coming. One analyst may have given us the answer.

Wedbush analyst Dan Ives believes the iPhone 13 series will be announced in the third week of September. That would be a little later than usual, since Apple tends to announce iPhones in the first or second week of that month. However, this information suggests that the iPhone 13 release date could be September 24.

It should be noted that this is speculation and Ives' prediction taken at face value. Apple typically holds its iPhone launch event on a Tuesday and opens reservations on that Friday; the first batch of iPhones usually arrives in customers' hands on the following Friday.

If Ives is correct, the iPhone 13 would be announced on September 14, pre-orders would begin on September 17, and the iPhone 13 would go on sale on September 24.

Ives did not reveal where he got his information, but given his respectable track record as an analyst and his sources in the supply chain, he has proven himself to be a trustworthy man.

September has been the de facto iPhone launch month for the majority of mainstream iPhones since the iPhone 5. The only exceptions are the iPhone 12, which was delayed to October thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the iPhone X, which appeared in November 2017, presumably so as not to interfere with the release of the iPhone 8 series in September of that year.

Ives also repeated rumors that the iPhone 13 series would come with a 1TB storage option and that all four models this year would feature LiDAR sensors. Nevertheless, both of these rumors have been refuted by other sources, and we will have to wait and see how things play out.

So far, other iPhone 13 rumors have pointed to a smaller notch on all four models, a faster A15 Bionic chip, and Face ID being mounted below the display. And Apple could up its calculated photography game by offering a portrait mode for video and better results when shooting the night sky.
