The Google Pixel6 case suggests a radically different design

Even though the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have yet to be announced, that hasn't prevented accessory makers from selling cases online.

That's exactly what happened when Amazon vendor Sucnakp posted a Pixel 6 Pro case on its website for about $9. Phandroid staff ordered the case and saw it for themselves; they were impressed with the quality and the price. And it seems that Google may be adopting a pronounced edge-to-edge camera bump, as the rendered images of the Pixel 6 that have appeared online suggest.

The Pixel 6 case itself appears to be the same size as the OnePlus 9 Pro case. The large camera bump on the back is attracting a lot of attention. Current rumors suggest that the Pixel 6 Pro will have a 50MP main camera. The rumor also suggests that it may have another 8MP telephoto camera sensor. Unfortunately, not much is known about the selfie camera at this time.

Given that Google has the most advanced photo processing software on the market, a powerful 50MP sensor combined with its color science should give it a big advantage in the battle against Apple and Samsung.

Before fans start speculating about the final design of the Pixel 6 Pro, there is one major caveat. The published case appears to be based on renderings created by Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech. According to Prosser, he noticed that Suknako was not very good at removing his watermark. (The photo with the watermark has since been removed.)

Prosser created a rendering using the images sent to him. Prosser's rendering is impressive, but the final design could have been altered. In other words, a conceivable possibility is that the casemaker jumped at the chance to sell this case. However, it is more likely that the casemaker used the same CAD rendering that was sent to Prosser.

This is because case makers sometimes obtain dummy units early and showcase their products in advance to create a buzz before the phone's launch. However, the appearance of this hypothetical case does not mean that the Pixel 6 launch is imminent.

At this point, Prosser believes that the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will launch in October. That is still four months away.

In any case, we will continue to keep a close eye on the Pixel 6 and will bring you a review upon release. Maybe it will even make our list of best Android phones.
