Samsung Says Galaxy Z Fold2 has not been discontinued prior to the launch of z Fold3 [Update]

10:52 a.m. ET Update: Received the following statement from Samsung: "We are pleased with the excitement around the Galaxy Z Fold2 5G and encourage you to visit Samsung.com for the latest updates regarding availability. We want to make it clear that Samsung is not discontinuing this device."

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is rumored to launch in August, but when the Galaxy Z Fold 2 disappeared from Samsung.com on June 17, it briefly looked like Samsung might accelerate its plans. Not so.

Samsung appears to have stopped selling the Galaxy Z Fold 2, and when trying to access the product page, the following message appears: "The Galaxy Fold is no longer available for purchase on Samsung.com, please see other options in the Galaxy family. Please see our other options in the Galaxy family."

However, sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 appear to have been halted.

However, as of 8:20 AM ET on June 18, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is back in stock on Samsung's site. The company then issued the above statement, emphasizing that the Z Fold 2 is not being discontinued.

9to5Google first discovered that the Z Fold 2 was not for sale on Samsung's site and reached out to Samsung for comment. Note that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 continues to be available at Best Buy and Amazon, but is listed as out of stock at Verizon and not at all at T-Mobile, where it was previously available; AT&T is still selling it for now.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is currently the best foldable phone you can buy, but with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 reportedly to be announced at an Unpacked event later this summer, we can see why there is much anticipation We can see why there is a lot of anticipation.

If you've been following the Galaxy Z Fold 3 rumors, Samsung's new foldable phone could feature the first under-display camera in Samsung phone history. In addition, the Z Fold 3 will reportedly support S Pen input, similar to the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The best part? According to one rumor, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 could be priced as much as 20% less. A new 16MP selfie camera would be featured on a larger display.

The Z Fold 3 is rumored to have a 7.5-inch main display (smaller than the 7.6-inch Fold 2) and a 5.4-inch cover display (although we hear there is a 6.2-inch one). According to one certification, the Z Fold 3's battery size could be 4,275 mAh, which would be slightly smaller than the Z Fold 2's 4,500 mAh.

There is still quite a bit of time before the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be available, but we will keep you posted as information becomes available.
