Ready for a summer adventure? Now is the time to watch "Luca" on Disney Plus. This new Pixar film is about growing up, exploring the world, and building deep friendships. And, as with all Pixar films, expect a heartwarming story and tears.

The animated film is set on the Italian Riviera, where 13-year-old sea creature Luca (Jacob Tremblay) lives offshore. When Luca goes ashore, he can take on human form, but the locals assume that Luca is a monster, so Luca's guardians forbid him to go ashore. Luca's curiosity gets the better of him and, encouraged by his new friend Alberto, the two venture into the town of Portorosso.

Luca and Alberto become friends with a village girl, Juilia (Emma Berman), who enters them in the town triathlon. However, they must be extremely careful, as the residents of Portorosso have killed sea monsters before, and even a drop of water could reveal their true identities.

Luka is available on Disney Plus after its release on Friday, June 18 at 3:00 a.m. ET.

It is not a Premier Access (additional fees are required) film and is free to Disney Plus subscribers.

Luca's trailer begins with the main character, a sea creature who inspires himself to appear on the surface of the water. After he fails, Alberto leads the way and essentially dares Luca to follow him.

Once on land, they take the form of teenage boys and begin exploring the city. Boys and toys, right?
