Samsung Galaxy S21FE Fast Charging may have just been confirmed

According to Chinese regulators, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE may support 25W charging.

A listing of a Samsung phone with the codename "SM-G9900" on the 3C Certification website (via MyFixGuide) likely indicates that Samsung's upcoming entry-level flagship will support Samsung's standard fast charging technology. This codename could refer to another Samsung phone, but the S21 FE seems the most reasonable assumption.

This speed is the same as the Galaxy S21 series. Compared to other flagship smartphones, this charging speed is in the middle of the pack. This speed is faster than the iPhone 12, which offers up to 20W wired charging and 15W MagSafe wireless charging.

However, the S21FE is slower than the OnePlus 9's 65W charger.

We have yet to hear any rumors about the size of the S21 FE's battery. Last year's Galaxy S20 FE used the same 4,500 mAh cell as the Galaxy S20 Plus, which is almost the same size. However, the Galaxy S21 Plus had a slight increase in battery capacity compared to the year before, to 4,800 mAh; the S21 FE may see a similar capacity increase.

It is doubtful that Samsung will include a charger with the device. Samsung removed the charger from the box of the Galaxy S21 when it was released earlier this year; Samsung's cheaper phones like the Galaxy A52 5G still come with chargers, but with the flagship S21 model bearing the S21 name, perhaps Samsung will again omit the power brick decision.

However, it is believed that the FE will follow the original S21 in better ways. Rumors suggest that the Snapdragon 888 found in the S21 will be included in the FE (as well as the Exynos 2100 chip used in non-US models), as will the 120Hz refresh rate display panel.

The Galaxy S21 FE is rumored to be released this September. However, the S21 FE is also rumored to have been delayed due to the ongoing global chip shortage. Samsung responded to initial reports that production had been halted, saying, "No decision has been made regarding the alleged production halt."

Even if the S21 FE is put on hold, Samsung should have at least one more big announcement this year, with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 rumored to arrive in August.
