Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will launch on August 27 and may usher in a new generation of foldable phones.

This is according to Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech, who says his sources expect them to begin shipping in August. It should be noted, however, that there is no information on when the Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Galaxy Z Flip 3 will be officially announced by Samsung, and Prosser's track record is mixed.

Samsung's next foldable phone reveal has long been touted by regular leakers as August; July has also been mentioned as a possible release date, but August is the month in which Samsung tends to announce new flagship-class phones.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Galaxy Z Flip 3 could be Samsung's only remaining high-profile phone launch this year. The Samsung Galaxy Note 21 is believed to be dead or postponed, and recent reports claim that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE may be delayed due to the ongoing global chip shortage.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is said to feature an under-display selfie camera on its built-in display and support for the S Pen stylus. There are rumors that the price could be significantly reduced to make it more attractive to early adopters. [However, the Z Fold 3's main rear camera array is said to be the same as that of last year's Galaxy Z Fold 2. And it will likely still be much more expensive than Samsung's other flagship smartphones like the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3, on the other hand, is rumored to have some interesting changes, in addition to reportedly skipping the second generation to match the Z Fold numbering. Leaked images and unofficial renderings suggest that the outer display may be larger, while other rumors suggest that it may feature a larger battery and an improved hinge mechanism.
