Killer feature of Ios15 — Holy Cow, it's actually Siri

I don't know how many times I've used Siri on my iPhone 11 Pro Max and it timed out while typing a request or message." I said it all, but it didn't catch any of it?" As in.

Other times, Siri was so slow to respond that I just ended up furious and resorted to typing in a query. iOS15 speeds up Siri if you have an iPhone with an A12 Bionic chip or later.

And Siri will be able to do some very cool things that were previously not possible on the iPhone.

Let's start with speed. in iOS 15, Siri now does on-device voice processing, so all your voice requests are processed on the iPhone via Apple's Neural Engine. in Google Assistant's on-device processing. Google is ahead of the curve, but this upgrade is still very welcome.

Siri can perform multiple tasks in near-instant succession, including launching apps, setting timers, turning on dark mode, creating alarms, setting reminders, and sending text messages.

Siri is also even smarter in iOS 15. For example, let's say you have multiple people named Brian in your contacts; Siri is smart enough to know which one you contact most often and will call that person by default simply by you saying their first name.

Even better, Siri makes it very easy to share something with your contacts. You can look at a photo and say, "Send this to Jennifer," and Siri will automatically send that contact a message with the image attached; the same goes for a news article in Safari. It's like magic.

Siri can share within certain applications, but if it cannot share, it will instead take a screenshot on the iPhone display. When taking a screenshot, the Siri box temporarily disappears so iOS 15 can capture the entire display.

Siri's IQ improvements also include the ability to browse to contacts on the screen. For example, if you are in the Messages app, say "Call her" or "FaceTime her," iOS 15 will know exactly what to do without having to launch another app.

For those who don't like saying the same thing over and over again, there's more good news: Siri in iOS 15 is better at keeping context. It can now ask all kinds of follow-up questions. For example, if you ask how many 3-pointers Luka Doncic has won this year, then say, "Show me news about him," "How old is he?" or "Where is he from?" and Siri will flash you the answer.

There are other Siri superpowers in iOS15 that can make your life easier, such as the ability to be notified of notifications (useful while driving or working out). Some of these abilities require other Apple devices, like the ability to launch shows on Apple TV. However, you can control your smart phone device from any Siri-enabled device.

Overall, Siri in iOS 15 is becoming a feature I use all the time. This is progress.
