Orders for iphone13 camera components are reported to have surpassed all Android phones

The iPhone camera always comes with many upgrades, but if the latest reports are accurate, the iPhone 13 could reach a whole new level.

According to DigiTimes, Apple is increasing pressure on suppliers of key camera lens components. The pressure is so great that orders are expected to exceed the entire Android market.

Apple has reportedly notified the Taiwanese company responsible for producing voice coil motors (VCMs) to increase its production capacity. Apparently, Apple has so much demand for this component that it needs to increase production by 30-40%.

Sources told DigiTimes that significant upgrades are planned for the iPhone 13's various image processing technologies, which will require an increase in the number of VCMs. This includes the camera module and the 3D sensor for Face ID. At the same time, demand from Android manufacturers is said to be declining, especially since U.S. sanctions against Huawei devices are still in place.

The VCM, for those who do not know, is an important component that helps focus the camera lens. Therefore, the more camera lenses and sensors that need to be in focus, the more VCMs are needed to make them actually work.

We expect many camera upgrades in the iPhone 13 series, especially the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. According to previous reports, this includes a new 6-element ultra-wide-angle lens on both Pro models, a larger sensor and aperture, sensor-shift image stabilization, and a new "folding lens" that utilizes a periscope camera design to improve the iPhone 13's optical zoom capabilities camera will be included.

There are also rumors of a smaller notch with a smaller footprint for Face ID and the front camera. The rear camera array is also rumored to be larger, and early renders and leaks suggest that the rear lens will be larger than that of the iPhone 12 series.

In addition, there are rumors that Apple may follow Google's lead and introduce an iPhone 13 astrophotography upgrade to improve the quality of night sky photos. iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are strongly rumored to be equipped with LiDAR sensors goes without saying.

Combining all these upgrades would require Apple to have a significant number of camera components, including VCM.

Such a significant increase in demand also suggests that Apple is preparing to mass produce the iPhone 13 this year. The only question is whether the iPhone 13 lineup can beat the record already set last year by the iPhone 12 series.
