Samsung Galaxy Z times 3 price could be 20% cheaper

Good news for folding phone fans who found Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip a bit over budget. According to the latest rumors about the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung may release both devices at a lower price than the previous models.

The news comes from SamMobile, which does not elaborate on the source of the information, but says it has "heard" that both handsets will have more consumer-friendly pricing. Apparently, the difference between this year's and last year's models could be as much as 20%. The savings could be up to $400.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 debuted at $1,999 (the only storage variant) for the 256GB/12GB RAM model; the Galaxy Z Flip Galaxy Z Flip 5G initially sold for $1,449, but Samsung permanently price reduction, a savings of $250.

A further price drop means that a sub-$1,000 Galaxy Z Flip 3 could be on the horizon; the Galaxy Z Flip's price cut would make it one of the cheapest folding devices on the market, along with the Moto Razr. If the Flip 3 falls below that, it will be the cheapest folding phone we have ever seen. And given the more fun and youthful aesthetic and branding, the move seems like a no-brainer.

Or perhaps Samsung is preparing to launch at least two different phones this year. Samsung already offers two Galaxy Z Fold models in China, with the second model offering an additional SIM card slot and a unique color scheme. We may see cheaper versions of both folds alongside more premium offerings.

We'll know more in just a couple of short months, as Samsung is excepting to announce both devices at a summer Unpacked event this July or August.
