Sandman Teaser Reveals First Look at Netflix cartoon Adaptation

Get ready to enter the world of dreams on Netflix During Geeked week, "The Sandman" released a sneak peek, giving us a first look behind the scenes of the film adaptation of Neil Gaiman's beloved comic.

Hosted by Gaiman himself, the teaser gives the executive producer a tour of the set of "The Sandman," where for 32 years, anyone who read "The Sandman" read the comics. That world is ending. I come to Shepperton Studios to see what happens when dreams become reality."

As Gayman explains, "The Sandman" takes place in the realm of Dreaming, which is ruled by Morpheus (Tom Sturridge), the Dream. He can go back and forth between his realm and the realm of the human world. He is then captured and imprisoned by the occultist Roderick Burgess (Charles Dance). Upon his escape, Morpheus must work to correct the wrongs of the universe and mankind.

In a sneak peek, Gaiman seems stunned as he checks out the concept art, props, and costumes. Sandman fans will see such important items as Morpheus' ruby, helmet, and sandbag.

"Our art department, our set decorators, our production designers, they are magicians. They are absolute magicians, and when you see what they have created here, it's like walking around in your own dream."

Gaiman gasps when he sees the sets, which are familiar to comic book readers. This is amazing."

The Sandman also features Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer (a very different version from the one Tom Ellis played in Lucifer). The cast includes: Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, the Dreaming's librarian; Boyd Holbrook as the nightmare Corinthian who escaped the Dreaming; Asim Chaudhry as Abel; Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain; and Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Dream's sister Des; Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Dream's brother; Donna Preston as Desire's twin, Despair; Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, occult detective and ancestor of John Constantine; and the voice of Matthew, Dream's raven. Patton Oswalt.

Everyone involved seems to be a Sandfan. Says Gaiman, "This is Sandman made by people who love Sandman, for people who love Sandman."
