At the center of the buzz for Season 3 of The Boys is new cast member Jensen Ackles, who has been cast as Soldier Boy. And we got our first look at his new gear and shield.

Today, The Boys' Twitter account posted two photos of Ackles in gear. This follows a post by Akles showing a close-up of Soldier Boy's shield. Akles added to this post that the "full character reveal" will be "tomorrow!!!" and had an even bigger teasing caption, so we knew the full look was coming. (with the caption.)

Sollider Boy's gear is a bit odd in its green and black appearance. The character is supposed to emulate Captain America, but this look has no hint of American patriotism.

But about that shield. Ackles tweeted, "Every dent, every scratch, every mark tells a story. A story that ends with me winning. #" accompanied by an emoji that reads.

Comparing its gear and shield to the one in the comic, it looks quite realistic, but without the red tint seen there.

The Boys is arguably one of Amazon Prime Video's biggest shows, but it is not yet clear when a third season will appear. Karl Urban and his friends have thrilled us for two seasons, and Ackles' arrival as a Soldier Boy is the most exciting thing to happen to the show in a long time. Ackles, who just finished his 15th season on "Supernatural," has played an important role in the history of "Boys. [He fought during World War II and obtained the serum after Frederick Vought turned on the Allies. Soldier Boy was a member of a group called Payback, which was like The Seven before The Seven. Stormfront was also a member. Interesting, isn't it?

We are still waiting for a release date for Season 3 of The Boys, which is still filming, and in early June we learned that the show was halfway through production and had just begun filming scenes featuring Ackles. At this rate, there is no telling when a release date will be revealed.
